American Timber Supplier and Turner looking to chat!
Hi everyone! I'm very happy to have found your forum. I own the website www.hardtofindwood.com and specialize in fancy american woods. I also write for GMC publications out of the United Kingdom and am working on a book for them on timber drying at home. They have asked me to make sure any wood names I use will be understood where they sell books, so I will probably be asking some questions about what you name something I have.
I did an article a couple of months ago on impregnating wood with plastic resin that turners find interesting. I'm happy to answer questions and love to turn Aussie burl...so please email me or reply to this. My email is [email protected] or you can find me through the website.
If you like American woods let me know. I'm a dentist by trade and don't need to make $$ off wood sales...so you can get some good deals. Please let me know if you have anything to sell and if you know about shipping back and forth.
Thanks Joshhttp://www.hardtofindwood.com

Welcome aboard Josh. Quite a few of your compatriots are regular visitors & contributors here. I've never tried importing or exporting any foreign timbers so am not sure of the quarantine implications, but I'm sure there will be many here who can advise. I'll be in the US (Atlanta, Florida, San Francisco etc) in September for a few weeks so could possibly transport a few things, although I already have a suitcase of hand tools to bring back.
Nice pic by the way - that's what I call a slab! What sort of timber is that? I look forward to your further posts and comments on all things American with interest. In the meantime I'll check out your website.

Welcome Josh I'm sure you'll enjoy being a member of this great forum.
We usually warn people about making their email adresses public but if it's already public I guess that's cool.
It would be interesting to know what you pay for Australian woods and which Aussie hardwoods are available in the US.
HH.Always look on the bright side...
