Free Wood!!
If you live in close proximity to the Amherst/Buffalo, NY area, you may be interested in this. recently, the local electric utility company, here, felled a large dead Poplar tree for me - as a portion of it was threatening a power line. I don't have the means by which to handle the wood, and will give it FREE to anyone who may want it. Some of the pieces are manageable enough for carry, but most would have to be split. PM me if interested.

Okay, Okay. I'm something of a novice with this, and just assumed that this wood would be usable for some creative woodworking application. Just chalk it up to my naivety - on the matter - and try to consider that I was only trying to help someone. At the very least, I'm told that this tree would be good for firewood. And anyone who lives in this area would surely understand the value of that. Anyway, the offer still stands: if it's worth it to anyone, you can have it.

SawdustMaker,
While there are a few members of this board that live in the USA, 95% of the members live in Australia.
Makes it a bit far for us to take advantage of.
Thanks anyway

And I think, now, that maybe I should not have been on the defensive regarding the first poster that I responded to. He may have been making just harmless jest, and I am now of the feeling that I should not have been so uncharacteristic of myself with him. If he peruses this post I want him to know that I offer a HUGE apology, and ask his forgiveness. I also apologize to everyone else, on this great site.=========================

SawDustMaker ... welcome aboard .... unfortunatley many new members are scared off by the off the wall humour by some of our members. Very rarely is anything said is spite and it may pay to read a few posts to get the hang of how it works.
As for your timber ... its good to see you wanting to see it go to a good home ... before you give it away for fire wood call your local woodworking club ... I am sure that somebody will be interested.

The best way to get rid of it is to put it out on the road side and put up a sign:
Wood For Sale

No need for a sign. Just put it on the nature strip and within a few days it will be gone.

Hi Stinky,
And thanks. I mean, you (and others, here) could have retaliated with some barbed-wire replies behind my gross misconception of Jamie's benign humor; banded together and made me walk the virtual plank. But you didn't - and I appreciate that. To be honest, I could not have faulted you if you all did. However, if you actually knew the person that I really am (truuuuuly a GOOD guy ) you would also know how terrible I feel about this. But I've gotten it all out now, and I promise not to bore you all with it again.
At least now I can heal .

Sturdee & PaulS,
I couldn't move 1/10th of the wood that's laying in my front yard, because of a lower-back injury that was suffered in an auto accident, better than a year and a half ago. The above mentioned 10th wouldn't be too difficult to manage, for a short distance anyway, but the majority of those pieces are quite heavy. Many of the chunks are at least three to four feet in diameter, with near equal depth. Then, too, there are some even greater than that. But something will work out. As mentioned earlier, it can brutally cold here. And if this wood serves no other purpose than to warm a family during the winter months, while at the same time easing their utility bills for a spell - then I will be very happy.
P.S.
Paul, you most definitely did hit the nail on the head: That wood wouldn't last one night, with a "Wood For Sale" sign attached to it .=========================

I offer you my apologies if I offended you
There was never any intention to do that and I did make a comment about joking and the fact that I first went to school on Long Island. Very pleasant recollections.
Now if I may suggest get that "Wood For Sale"" out front and get someone else to shift that timber instead of breaking your back
Cheers to you and yours from Downunder

I'm not one to rest on crutches, but I had been up rather late - that night - wrestling with complications of my back problem, and was also somewhat sleepy. Couple to that the fact that I have been with a cranky nature, lately, because of fighting these dadblasted cigarettes (a very nasty habit that I wish I'd never picked up). A word of advice to all: If you don't smoke - DON'T START. Nasty, nasty, nasty.=========================
