Gloat - Up, Up and Away
Tomorrow, the Winsome Wench and I climb in the car to drive to Perth. The next day we fly Perth to Sydney, Sydney to LA and LA to Portland, Oregon. We then spend 8 wonderful weeks in Oregon, Washington State, Alaska and the Canadian Rockies.
I am really going to miss you all, and will be thinking of you every minute of every day. Do you believe that?
I am sworn off computers for the whole trip, so you can say what you like about me and I won't be upset.
I will be meeting some Washington woodworkers that I know on WWA. We are invited to a BBQ to get to see each other and share lies about our prowess.
I also hope to get into some woodwork galleries in the course of our travels, to see some local creations. Problem is, the Wench has a rule that she gets equal time to go looking at gardens, birds and/or clothes shops. I don't remember this rule being agreed, but Wench tells me that it is there as part of our marriage contract.
Whatever, I thought I would tell you all of that so you can be happy in the knowledge that I am having a good time.
PS: I bought a digital camera yesterday and, once I learn to use it, I will be able to post some more gloats. But not til I get home.

Up, up and went
I am sitting here in Vancouver, Washington State, USA just wishing that y,all could be here having this much fun.
Apart from having to learn the language all over again, it has been a great trip so far. There is nothing like the thrill of driving an unfamiliar car, from the passenger seat, on the wrong side of the road, in US traffic.
This, Washington State, is the home of some of the US forests and I am surrounded by red cedar and other desireable stuff. I checked out Qantas but they won't hitch a trailer on behind the plane to carry a load back for me. I have made contact with a local woodworker I know from the WWA forum and am off to a BBQ next week to meet him and others, to swap lies and see some of the local product.
My wife has let me get into a couple of tool shops to do some drooling but, to be blunt, there is nothing so far that I have not seen at home for about the same price. Next week I will get to a place that stocks top of the range measuring and laying out stuff, Bridge City etc, and I may be tempted.
A computer being available, I will check back now and then to see what you are up to.

Hello Robert,
Hope you enjoy your trip. I saw a "This Old House" episode where they had a look in a second hand shop and there were bargains everywhere (maybe just for the show) - Might be worth checking out.
Have a great holiday - all the best Peter
