Gentlemen,
I have a reasonable supply of NOS saw files (except 4" XXSlim of course, you need to go to needle files for fine back saws, c. $17). I have yet to organise a way of selling them though... a few thoughts follow
I do not know what saws are suitable for Heavy Taper files, and don't have any myself, sorry Matt. The prices for Bahco files at around $7 is great buying, anything under $10 is pretty good. Note that 3-Square files are the same shape, but have sharper corners, and are better quality in general - and cost more.
Coarse rip saws - less than 5 ppi need a 10" regular saw file, or perhaps an 8" Heavy Taper. 10" are hard to find, although I do have a 12" 3-Square file that should work! An 8" regular does not cut the mustard, let alone the saw plate, something I discussed with Isaac Smith at a LN tool event in Brooklyn, NY a year or so ago.
1. I will upload a table of files for the range of ppi shortly, this can guide participants in the workshop.
2. I will also put together a price list for files I have available to sell, these are almost all NOS
I will read through the thread on Monday to see if I can contribute to any other queries
Cheers
Peter

Well we've got Dirk a nice saw to sharpen from the TTTG sale today. Not 100% sure what it is just yet, there's some overlapping info on the Disstonian website, so it's been hard to positively identify, but I think it's a D100 (old style), other alternative, a #112. Either way, very nice saw in excellent condition. Pics tomorrow. Also another Spear & Jackson ( a bit older than my present collection), a Henry Boker (Germany) and a Richard Ibbotson (Sheffield) from Ca. 1840-1890.
Next step, saw vice. Hmmm, had a look at the sale, but not much that I would want there, so making will be the best. I'll keep you posted on what I'm thinking.
Until then.
Pete.

And here is my beauty of a saw.
I also bought some calipers to go with my chisels for when I get a lathe. I'll start a new thread for that stuff soon.
Enjoy
Dirk.
