Hi I'm a newbie yet an old hand
Hi I spent quite a few years promoting Timber Shows and meeting woodworkers from across the country. I met so many passionate people from the clubs and associations and was privileged to see and publicise some amazing woodwork. Some of my favourite things include:
Furniture Designers - we have some incredibly talented designers in this country with such diversity in design. I can't get enough of Richard Vaughan's designs or Robert Dunlops work.
Scroll Saw work - seeing cathedrals, churches and ornate baroque style fretwork is a real buzz people are so talented
Carvings - I love seeing the range of carvings from detailed religious panels to sculptures.
Woodturning - I always think of Richard Raffan the ultimate woodturner, just love his fine bowls
Instruments - from guitars to miniature harps I always enjoyed meeting the music makers. Robert in Qld was fabulous and recently met Ron Badenhope from Drysdale when I raved about a carved block of wood that used marbles to create music from an internal xlophone, then found out he had made it!
I'm now working on a new event The Hands-On Expo which has a dedicated woodwork show. Can't wait to be back in touch with the clubs to promote the individual works but also more importantly to let the general public know how easy it is to get involved in woodwork and grow the membership base.
If you're interested have a look at "www.handsonexpo.com.au" to see the dates for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The website will be updated with seminar details a few months prioor to the show but you can always register for an advance program.
Cheers
Collette

Hi Collette,
A very warm welcome to you and look forward to your valuable
input to this Forum site ... we think its the best in the world.
Also, thanks for your suggestion re a possible site for our
relocation. We are not tied to a lease with our premises so, if
unfortunately we ever have to move again, we will consider
your idea.
Cheers.
