Default Huntingdale Power Tools has fully closed the business

    Gutted.

Got a quick courtesy email from Festool.

"...to let you know that your local FestoolDealer, Huntingdale Power Tools, has recently closed down."

My goto power tools repair shop.

Just received a confirmation from their facebook messenger account.
To see if they have closed the repair shop as well.

"...Yes we have fully closed the business."
".. most of the stock has been sold off before closing the doors"

    So sad.
    Thanks,
    Barry G. Sumpter

This guts me. It really does.

There are so many businesses that will be faced with the same dilemma.

Think of the number of people this will affect.

That shop was full on every time I went in.

I'd like to think the owner took advantage of the situation and retired because he was smart enough to recognize the opportunity.
    Thanks,

In a similar vein, a lot of theses places are struggling because of background issues.
Such as minimum order values from the supplier.
With so many brands and each having such a wide varity of product and minimal interchangeability it is very difficult / costly to carry a full range of stock. So they get back to ordering and i can speak from experience here, a simple part required (even say ($50) does not come any where near minimum value. So for store to order that part they have to choose between waiting and hoping for another request for items to maximise the order, or pay a surcharge for the items , or loose the sale as customer tries to get it online
So please try and support local, thanks for reading my rant

Hi Barry. I dropped in at my local (Dorset Power Tools, Mooroolbark) to say goodbye to Steve yesterday. He is part of a dying breed (not literally!) and he has found somone who has bought the business and will keep repairing tools. The independents cant be beaten for service. I agree, support your local.

    So sad.
Did not go there often but have bought the odd item there over thirty years. I could also get Festool bits from them.

Thankfully I have not needed a power tool repaired recently, but still know of one place in McKinnon but they no longer sell Festool.

Challenging times in a changing world.
