Well that was fun. Spent a great morning out there having a chat to Chris Vesper, David from LN and Alastair from the Melbourne Guild of Woodworking. Interesting demos and, as it turns out, held in the same spot I used to do part time after school work in back in the '70s when it was a furniture factory.

Finally picked up one of Chris's great joinery knives and a few LN screwdrivers for my planes. Should keep me going until the WW show later this year

So your share quota of L&N has markedly gone up?

    cheers

What a great event. Much more relaxed than the big shows. Nice to have the time to chat and play with the tools.
I was very impressed by the quality of the demos and I'll try to get along to one of the courses this year. Windsor chair....Wood carving....Chair.....Carving.....
you get the idea...too many things to learn and time still at a premium....oh well one day at a time.
I did pick up a LN 48 and 49 pair so I look forward to putting them to use in the next few months.
I couldn't resist when David told me that 4 of the 5 #51's he has on the way are spoken for.....its now all 5 in the first shipment are taken
Great time had by all from those I had a chat to.
Sorry I missed you Greg....I think I passed you in the small crowd that was the morning rush
    All thebest

David tried to hook me in on one of the #51s too. I was very pleased to tell him that this Thursday I am to be GIVEN a #51 by a friend of mine (insert smug smiley here).

Sorry I missed you Kev, I go to these events and and know that I have seen the faces before but...

Was your friend one of the 4 out of the 5? (insert smug smiley here).

Nah, it is one of the Stanley 51s, which will be great for the stuff I do. The LN versions look better engineered, particularly since they have the benefit of seeing how the Stanleys fared over the years and could strengthen them where needed.
