I have to go up to Castlemaine on Sunday morning, so a stop-off on the way home at Kyneton is in order! It sounds very interesting.

Yes, thanks to Jim for bringing this to our attention.
To the people that attend, I would love to hear how it goes, with a view to getting something similar up Sydney way.
I intend to get in touch with the Rundell's when the dust dies down.
    cheers,

Well, I called in to have a look at the Lost Trades Fair yesterday lunchtime and boy what a crowd.

First thoughts that I had was that the site was too small. Some of the exhibitors like the Coopering and the Blacksmithing you just could not get near for the crowd. They were pushed into a corner of the Museum grounds. The Toolmakers were in a historic outbuilding and you could not get into the door. With approx 35 different exhibitors, mostly locals, including Leatherworkers, Spinners & Weavers, Saddlemakers, Printers, Music Instrument makers, Coachbuilers, Rush seat weavers and Stone wallers, there are too many to mention. Next time I will organise myself better and allow more time than I had.
However, what I did see was great. Most of the exhibits were working exhibits.

The organisers should be very thrilled with the weekend and the local restaurants and bakeries were doing a roaring trade also.

I was also going to post the Lost Trades Australia web site they advertise, but it seems to be a parked domain??

I have to concur it was great concept and a great event. It was cool seeing the guy who hand makes muzzle loaders, never seen that before.

But yes the site was too small with stall shoe-horned into buildings etc that you just couldn't get to with people standing at the prior stall. If there was a crowd at Colen Clentons stall you didn't even know Terry Gordon was also in there and the same with the locksmith blocking the gun maker. Having said all that the organiser may just have underestimated the popularity and huge turn out.

I look forward to seeing the event prosper and grow and get refined along the way.

i went on the sunday and had a great time, the french polishing demonstration was great and watching the guys from rundells making some windsor chair components was informative as well. it was really busy so a bigger space would be good for next year.

Just did a quick search of next years event, and it's scheduled for early March 2015.

Does anyone know if the venue will be expanded space-wise, over this years inaugural fair?

    Default Kyneton Fair.

    Hi Cava,
    Yes, it is most certainly on 2015. Sat.7th. - Sun.8th. March 2015.
Supposed to be 35 Demonstrators, & we have already booked our bed, but a couple we tried were already full.
Google ; Rundell & Rundell, or Kyneton Lost Trades Fair.
    Regards,
    issatree.

I assume this is a new location next year as the website states that it is at the racecourse.
