Both of these interest me Derek. I've yet to purchase a scrapper, until I have a better understanding. I was going to bring my 2 planes (one is still coming in the mail ) along to gain insight on setup and sharpening.

Give it a couple of days to let all give there opinion on Sat or Sun (though Sun is looking good at the mo) and then will confirm all details.

Ever hopeful.... I'll make it back over that way eventually.... Hoping to pick up some of that Queenslan Plain-Tree.

Bendigo to Bunbury trip I did go via Cooktown
That is close to Cairns.... if you come that close again, give us a yell.
BobR called in recently, he was doing Sydney to Cooktown & back but I think he skipped Bendigo and Bunbury 'cos he only had 6 months.

    Gazaly

Either Saturday or Sunday fine by me. Others have not commented but I personally think that it would be great if Mike and Sandra Berwick were able to make it. I have enjoyed my interactions with them.

I would also like to get the benefit of Derek's expertise in the area of sharpening and setting up handplanes.

    Regards

    Larry

Okay Im out... will be onsite rang today and got the news that since Ive been gone for so long and still have a bit of a prob with the knee they have decided that I needed a change of crew... so Im out on friday till tuesday back here for a week then gone for 2 back for 1 gone for 2 etc etc...

Actually I dont know what Im going to do at present really... cause due to this crew change bought on by my bung knee Im now apparently going to be up there for the 2 weeks which has Chrissy and New Years in it!! In 24 years of marriage and 8 kids Ive NEVER EVER missed Chrissy with the kids nor New Years with her highness

Apparently if your rostered on over this week they will offer to bring your wife and family onsite and they get tours parties and such while your at work really show them the whole Nifty thing even a trip to Telfer thrown in... but will only bring wife and 2 kids 3 max... so were stuffed! The youngest to eldest goes 12 13 14 16 19 21 23(x2) so okay we can leave the three eldest behind theyre old enough to handle it I guess but the 16 year old? shes a mommys girl through and through! and to her chrissy without mummy and daddy is just inconcievable!... so they remain down here and I up there this then causes probs with Joshy and Brie the two youngest who are daddys boy and girl Brie at present is away at camp and has no idea that this is going to happen while Josh was pretty shattered when we were talking about it tonight... the elder 4 were shellshocked Aaron the 19 year old just looked at me muttered "thats Fn ######## isnt it dad?" and when I shook my head he glared at me with a look that sorta made me make sure my head was still attached and no knife blades were jutting out of my chest "Thats f****d dad" and stormed of out to his caravan and we havent seen him since... and the eldest simply stated "but dad that cant be right whos going to play the guitar and sing the stupid songs" then burst into tears and went home to her partner... when the next eldest spoke with the eldests twin who lives in Kal with her partner and is expecting our second grandchild... well to say I think Ive sorta upset the whole family with this news is an understatement

Im to blame??? shyte I havent even got back there yet!! Ive told them I will try to get the week of if I can convince the mine manager (who decides who gets time of and who doesnt) that I NEED to be home with my family on that week no matter what... but I dont like my chances since Ive been there 5 months but have only been there for 2 and a half weeks! The rest of the time Ive been crook or havin this damned knee looked at! But there you go at present I wont be here for either this get together or Chrissy/New Years

Anyway HAVE A GREAT ONE!! Enjoy each others company and think of yer ol mate while young Derek and co do some great demos!

ps... Derek maybe you and I can hook up one day on a week off so you can run me through sharpening these damned chisels? pm me if its possible (I'll stick them in the back of the EFFY and when I get back drive them around)

    Cheers all

    That's rotten luck, Shane.

Speaking for myself, I don't have a problem with this being re-scheduled for a weekend when you're back from site. After all, it was your idea in the first place and it would be a shame for you to miss it.

Furthermore, most of the rest of us are based at home most of the time so it shouldn't be a big drama to arrange a different weekend (?)

What does everyone else think? (Especially Kerry).

No problems at all from me. I'm happy to reschedule to a time that is good for all concerned.

    No problem to me either.

I am open to another weekend/day. It is more important that we get together than simply have a gettogether, if you know what I mean.

Shane, it sounds like you have many chisels to sharpen. I am more than happy to do so, or help you do so, but there may be more there to do than time allows when we all meet. You are welcome to visit me in Rossmoyne (one side of the Mt Henry Bridge) any Sat/Sun morning. Just PM me.

    Regards

    Derek

Sunday won't be a good day for me. I live in Yanchep, so it will be too far anyway.

Just had a chat to Wild Dingo and he suggested we live it as is for now, the 12th, until he returns on Tuesday. He will have a better idea of what going on then.

So I'll touch base with Kekemo and see what she would like people to bring etc.

    More soon all.
