Well I went to the show and I had a great day. There was plenty of timber.
Quite a lot of tools and machines were on display and although a lot of the big players weren't there I honestly can't say that I missed them.
There were new exhibitors representing other crafts and hopefully that is the start of great things to come.
By the time the doors opened at 10:00am there was a huge line of people waiting to get in. If anything I thought there was a few too many people for the space available. Some of the popular exhibits and demos were definitely packed.
There were a few "bargain bins" of timber/burl offcuts etc and by 10:01 all you could see was backsides and legs hanging out of the tops of the bins as everyone hunted for their favorite timber.
I was not hunting anything in particular myself this year as I have plenty of timber and not really looking for any new tools right now, but I still managed to fill a couple of bags with some nice hardwood and desert timber offcuts, the kind that you put to one side for when you need that little something special, and I picked up the new Arbortech Power Carving Unit. Jools, as usual, found a couple of nice pieces of timber too, including the beautiful Huon Pine in the photo below.

Here's a few pictures of the show and the crowd.

I caught up with Matt (Simplicity) and Sally, Gabriel, Bohdan, Dallas (Treecycle), Benny and his Mum Meriam and I saw Pagie from a distance but was not able to catch up to him.
All in all I spent about four hours there and enjoyed the time. Well done to the organizers, and the exhibitors and attendees who participated. I hope the rest of the weekend goes as well as today. Looking forward to next year.
My only real issues for the day are related to the venue more-so than the new organizers, who I think have managed to put on a great show despite the negativity coming from a lot of quarters.
The venue problem relates to disability parking. An area was marked on the site map as the disabled parking area. People with disabilities have varying needs. Many of us require a wider parking space to allow us to open our doors fully to access our vehicles which is why the Australian Standards for disability parking call for them to be a minimum width. Rezoning standard car parks as a disability car park may be a suitable solution for those who have a disability permit solely because they cannot walk long distances, but it is useless to those of us who need the wider parks. I was there early and managed to find one of the few spots on the end of a row where nobody would be able to park too close beside me, but others arriving later may not have been so fortunate. Finding that most of the defined disability parking area was already filled up with exhibitors' cars and trucks did not help the matter either.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

I was there too and agree that this is a good improvement on past years.
Glad that you managed to miss me in the photos!

I went today also and agree with Doug and Don. There was certainly a bit of a buzz about the place.
I had quite a long chat with Brendan (Candice's husband) who was kind enough to help me carry my timber purchase to the Pick-up area. They certainly seem to be intent on improving the show in the coming years.Tom

Thank you for a honest report, early I saw difficulties for those with disabilities ( iv,e got MS ) So decided not to attend 5 hr drive each way. Hopefully the organisers can take that issue onboard, also had concerns re proximity of disable toilets, thanks again Doug

Went to the show today & was generally impressed & there seemed a lot of interest in the timber for sale. I am a huge fan of the Lost Trades event at Kyneton & would love to see more artisans displaying their work.

Yup, I had a blast!
It was great to see some familiar faces however I do have to apologise. I ran into all you buggers in the first 10 minutes whilst I was on my 'get to Tassie timbers and djarilmari to grab the good bits' so I was one of those feet kicking in the air Doug mentioned. So my very short 'hi' was totally inadequate and I'm sorry.
In my opinion, the timber selection was MUCH better than it has been in the previous couple of years. Same vendors, but prices were on point with most of them.
It was great to see some new vendors in the aisles too. A pen turning stand (they mopped up the rest of my cash) and a couple of resin vendors with new pigments and colours to try out.
Personally, I thought it was a great size venue for the number of stands, with plenty of room to move about even past the popular stands when demonstrations were in full swing.
The only small thing I missed from previous shows was a place to sit and catch up with folks. Yes, there are places outside the main shed that would work, but I always liked at the racecourse sitting down and chewing the ear off a few unsuspecting friendly faces.
All in all I hope the organisers and stall holders had as much fun as I have, and they tell their business buddies to keep building it into something even better!!
A few shots of my score for the day
(Did I mention this is my one day a year free pass to stock up on stuff)
Now where did I put that resin

Spent my day there and enjoyed what I saw. Talking with Candice, there were 3 demonstrators who pulled out last Monday so that was a real shame for them.
Caught up with a number of woodworking friends and spent a bit of money. Overall one of my favourite days of the year where you get to see and play with lots of items under the one roof.
Below are a few photos that I snapped. Only done with the phone so not top quality but better than nothing (even snapped a couple of forum friends).

My self and Sall
Arrived early like quite a few others here.
Short answer we had a blast,it really looks like the show is on the mend.
That in itself is fantastic news I feel.
It really looked well supported by the Public,
Like others said heaps of timber,I stocked up a little bit on some of our beautiful native timbers.
It was great catching up with everyone sorry if I missed a few who know me personally.
Hopefully in the future the forum can get back to have a display again ?.
Sal got some pen stuff she wanted,
So all in all a great day an I can’t wait for the next one.
Cheers Matt,
Note point, I’ve attended other events there an parking and food prices were the same.
