Melbourne Timber show only a week away!!
Hello everyone
thought it was way past time that i should give you all an update on the Melbourne Show. Great to see that the ticket giveaways have been popular on the site!
After a getting to know the venue last year we have this year been able to put more expertise into organising a professional show for all of you timber lovers. This is the last show for the year for us and we have taken on board many comments from both exhibitors and visitors to make a much better show!
So what's happening at the Melbourne Show???
Shuttle Bus:
Last year we received comments about how far the parking was from the show - so this year between 9.30 and 5.30 all three days of the show we will have a shuttle bus running between the car parks and the venue!!
Catering:
There were many comments (not good) about the catering. We have worked with the venue this time and you will see a much improved service and selection of food.
A coffee shop will be open before the show each morning where you will be able to sit have a coffee and wait for the show to open. As well there is a large catering outlet which is placed in the middle of the show. We have also introduced a barbecue area outside by the outdoor exhibits, so hopefully this year we are catering for everyone!
Visitor Lounges:
This is the one we have received the most comment on - the visitors after year's of request for somehwere to sit have loved the lounges we have had on the floor - must also say even if any of our shows were total sell outs you will still see lounges on the floors - this is something we do at all of our shows and they are truly appreciated.
Meeting Point:
Don't forget as a forum member you have access to the Meeting Point - we provide a private area for you to have a seat and take a break and meet with other members as well as have a cup of tea or coffee with our compliments.
ATM:
Also something that cause much comment (and yes bad!) but again thankfully the venue has promised to have on site an ATM in the hall!
Give you a further update tomorrow..............Cheers Liz

Looking like a excellent show.
Like the Lounge areas I think there's 4 of them and the massive catering area.
U-Beaut Polishes will be on Stand # 66 facing the catering area.
Woodwork Forums/Renovate Forum Members Lounge is on Stand # 67 and backs on to our stand. The lounge is a 6 x 3 mt area where members can meet, sit, relax, have a cuppa etc away from the crouds.
Entry is to members only. You must have a Forum Cap, T Shirt, or Forum ID card for either Woodwork Forums or Renovate Forum to gain entry to this lounge.
Forum Caps will be available for purchase on the U-Beaut Stand. Member ID cards can be got to via this link
More info as it comes to hand.
Cheers - Neil

Melbourne Working With Wood Show 2009
I can only add to what Liz has said and noticed at the other shows that the seating areas are welcome and well used by all patrons.
If you see Liz or any of their crew over the weekend pass on your thanks and any other suggestions you may have because they do listen to all of us.
We also look forward to seeing you all there and please wear your forum ID cards as we dont know all your faces but do know most of the forum names.
We wont be hard to find we have Stand 48 on the right as you come in the hall. come in and say G'day.Jim Carroll

Hi Liz, I had a look at the map and there's no mention of disabled parking. Can you tell me please where the disabled parking is? Thanks.
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Woodwould
Just spoke to the Showgrounds and they have told me that disabled parking is in The Carnival Car Park. Go to gate 1 on Epsom Road and tell the parking attendant you require disabled parking and they will ensure they park you as close as possible to the venue. Hope this helps Liz

Getting ready....
I spent the afternoon at the show setting up and it looks pretty good so far. I found Neil, Pauline, Jim and Irene giving the Forum members' lounge a road test and trying out the sound-proofing (which was working until Neil spoke ). The stands look a bit larger than last year and there is plenty of walking room in the aisles.
The Forum display stand is opposite the Festool stand. Overhead are some very large exhaust fans, if the 6th fan from the narrow end of the building fell it would land on the forum display .
Neil's stand is about 20m away, past the Festool stand. Jim Carroll has a great spot where the forum stand was last year. He is against the wall and has a large frontage for his displays. The Forum Members' Lounge backs onto Neil's display.
The admin this year seemed pretty smooth and painless and the stand was ready to go with power and lights when I got there. Neil has arranged some silk print banners for the forums (please do not point out the typos unless you really have a need to see him turn purple).
Overall it looks good, there is a large area for food stands and most of the usual companies are there.
I don't know how I will go staring at a Festool stand for three days, I don't think I am that strong
Don't forget, if you want a free entry then you can still volunteer to man the stand for an hour or so.
I hope to see you there
