I just prefer subtle humour that needs to be digested and interpreted.
Have a look at Hitch hikers guide and pay attention to Marvin, I have worked with people like that (albeit most didn't have a brain the size of a planet).
American sitcoms shouldnt be judged by licille ball friends joey and all the other rubbish just like the poms and there rubbish like goerge and mildrid and on the busses ect . but humor is an individual taste. the american Garry Shandling Show was one of my favs and was very very funny but didnt have canned laughter so it died a painfull death here in aus. even last night i couldnt believe nine had curb your enthusiasm on at 11pm  funny as, but again no laugh track and at times bad taste so it wont find an audience at all. wonder how long before its back to 3am. and if id rather take nose hair out with pliers than watch DF2 here in Aus id rather dremell out my ear wax than watch to sooooo overated We can be Heros   and as far as hitchhikers goes iv read the book 3 times and seen the telly series but not the latest movie and love it

The classic English and Aussie sitcoms understand what true humor is ie. Men Behaving Badly, Black Adder, Man About the House, Some Mothers do Av' Em, Love Thy Neighbour, Open All Hours and the true Aussie legend, Kingswood Country.

My 2cents won't always be yours.
