Mitre 10 - Closing after 30 years
After 30 years, in one form or another, the Mitre 10 store in Osborne Park, Perth, is closing this Thursday.
Yesterday and today, I joined a large number of people hunting for bargains. I was too late for most of the power tools (the store mainly stocked Makita and Bosch with some Ryobi and GMC items), however, I did pick up a gem (see below), All the other "good" stuff had gone - clamps, blades for circular saws, drill bits (except for large augur bits), screwdrivers, garden tools etc. That said, I'm pleased with the stuff that I got for a +50% discount:
Bosch ROS - PEX 12 AE - 400 watts (made in Switzerland - I didn't realize that until I got home ) - $89.00
The store's display cabinet for router bits - a very nice, well constructed timber cabinet with a a heavy duty lockable perplex door (with 2 keys) - $15.00. I guess that I now have to buy some router bits......and a router.
The store's racking for dowel off-cuts (they kindly unscrewed it from the main racking) - $10.00.
A fair amount of marine grade plywood, Masonite and a pegboard.
Pegboard racking from the Ryobi display - these racks are small shelves that will be handy to store stuff horizontally on a pegboard - $2.50 each.
Two pieces of large galvanized racking from the garden department - $12.50 each.
Plus a whole bunch of small stuff that may come in handy one day
When I left this afternoon, the store looked like a plague of locusts had invaded it. However, there appeared to be a fair amount of paint available, some treated pine timber, garden chemicals and a fair amount of bottled product - kerosene, mineral oil, boiled linseed oil, turps etc.

I forgot to mention that the main timber racking is probably available for sale (assuming you want to store your timber vertically). If you are interested, I suggest that you get there tomorrow and put down a deposit or otherwise put a claim on it.
