My thoughts are with all of you in the Blue Mountains and indeed any other threatened areas. Rusty Nail, Crowie, Skew and possibly Fence Furniture are particularly on my mind, but I'm sure there are other Forum members whose locations I am not so sure of.
Stay safe.

Well, we are not charcoal yet. Winds were kind today and some good back burns are now in place. Plenty of fall out, but nothing live, which made it quite comfortable. Winds are still pushing the fire on, but if they swing southerly in the next couple of days Bilpin and surrounds should be ok. May make things worse for the other side of the mountain though. So far, we have been able to get a sleep each night, which helps. We take it in shifts. Im on tonight, watching for ember attack. Its a good night job, as they show up well in the dark. Then you fall A over T as you rush out to snuff em. Its nice to see the sun come up in the morning.
I wonder if an offering to the gods would put an end to all this? A looter for instance.

Just wanted to say that you guys are in our thoughts here in the UK. I sincerely hope you catch a break soon and start to see an end to this nightmare. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to live in the path of a bush fire. Stay safe everyone.

A cruel amount of rain
Just enough to be aggravating - about a poofteenth of a millimetre - maybe 100 drops per square metre. Shut the bloody cicadas up for a little while though (they've been yapping for 5 weeks now - LOUDLY).
Much more smoke in the sky today at Katoomba, but the air quality is still pretty good here. The sunlight is as discoloured at it was on Saturday.

The Lithgow fire (which has been deliberately joined to the Mt Vic fire for containment) has now been downgraded to "Watch and Act".

You will be welcomed Dave, thank you!
two spits of rain here as well, awesome.....
We had several back burns go wrong here over winter so a lot of the park at Glenbrook was burnt. All a bit wearying at the time and the butt of a few jokes but it may well save us now. The weather continues to be kind. Next to no wind but the smoke is getting thicker by the hour. Probably due to lack of breeze and the fact the back burn has now run up against the main fire directly to our north. If we get northerlies tomorrow I dont think we'll be staying for desert. Ember showers have eased right off, so I get a feed and a sleep, ready for tonight.

Just boarding the bus now out of Bathurst air port. Next stop - Lithgow base station. Update 21 not 14.
And trust me - I'm the only one not wearing an RFS polo shirt
And ...... I have to change my hat when I get to the fire ground.

Well just arrived at our base station and this is our sleeping quarters.
Bed time .... Not so sure for me. I'll be on all night. Sleeping here during the night is one thing. Sleeping during the day with the lights on ... I hope I get some sleep.
Apparently the road to katoomba is closed so can't even take Bret up on his offer
May share some pics from our area tonight. To my understanding we will be working on containment lines.
