Quick Clamps at Aldi Sat 28th.....THEY ARE GREAT! Talk about cheap though....
On sale this coming Saturday at Aldi:
https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-b...het-clamp-set/
I have 4 of the long ones, and 4 each of the medium & tiny, and they are excellent - I prefer them to Irwin clamps (which I also have).
Similar Irwin clamps at Sydney Tools are $40 and that is just for ONE.
Value for money rating - ridiculously off the scale!
I'll be getting some more because I , ahem, haven't got too many clamps yet. $40 will get me another 4 each of the large, medium and tiny - what a joke!

What about a set of 12 tungsten carbide tipped router bits in an aluminium carry case for $16.99.
In the same catalogue.

Hi Brett,
Those clamps look suspiciously like a set I bought recently from a different retailer in town. I have already snapped the clamping handle off the largest (one of two in the set) while using it with hardly any force at all. Another smaller one snapped at the pivot point near the base jaw. No more cheap tools for me thanks.
Cheers,
Bob

I'm afraid I'm with bob... sorry to throw a dampener in the mix.
I bought several of them last time the had them - 100% failure rate...
Everyone has snapped the plastic ratchet over a few months.
I also have a set of their G-clamps. They are holding up well.Cheers,
Joe

Hmmmm, maybe the arthritic hands create on overload prevention....
Actually, I wouldn't use them flat out, because as you have said the handles are a little flimsy. Haven't noticed any problems with them though, and thoroughly useful.

Do you think the combo jointer/thicknesser is worth a look just for home use? It looks like a bench one not sure if they've ever sold them before.

A bit of googling shows that it is the same as the Woodstar PT85 which seems to sell in the UK for around $450 AUD, of which you would be able to find some reviews such as this one - part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7UKx8ccpC0 and part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNTTusX_0YE

Yes out on Saturday, I think for about $250. The video above says the fence is rather unstable, you could clamp a solid piece of timber to it but then you'd have less surface to buzz the face side.

To be honest, I think if you want to do any kind of remotely accurate woodworking you'd be best to leave it alone. I VERY much doubt that it would cope with Australian hardwoods.
Admittedly I use a thicky/jointer that is 13 times the weight of that one, and with quality in the same ratio, but it looks to me like it would bring nothing but frustration. I'm always wary of people giving good reviews of very cheap and flimsy tools when they have links to their websites etc (and he sure does want you to visit his). It smacks of "cash or tools for comment".
I'm not surprised that he hasn't worked out how to get a twist out of a board yet - the lop sided infeed table would add more twist & shout than it took out.
Even if you did give a bash with your hand to "level" it
