Saw Plate in 1095 Spring Steel, with pre-cut teeth to your specifications

We have an opportunity to get some very-hard-to-come-by Saw Plate that is USA manufactured. The saw teeth will be pre-cut on a Foley Belsaw Tooth Cutter in any PPI you like from 5.5 to 17. Note that is Points Per Inch and not Teeth Per Inch (PPI = TPI + 1).
This offer has come from Ron Bontz (USA Saw Maker - website).The short story is that he ordered too much of the wrong size in 0.025" plate and needs to offload it. He has very kindly offered to supply us with some 0.020" and 0.032" plate as well.


All prices shown below are in A$, and are based on USD 0.85 to the A$1.00.This is to allow for PayPal's lower exchange rate and fees, and possible currency movement between now and when the transfer is done.Adjustments will be made after that has happened. International Freight and Domestic Postage are additional (see notes below).

Here's what's available:
  • 0.020" thickness $20 each, including tooth cutting, PLUS Int.Freight & domestic postage. Up to 3" wide, up to 12" long (specify).
  • 0.025" thickness $20 each, including toothing plus freight & postage. Up to 6" wide, up to 18" long (specify).
  • 0.032" thickness $20 each, including toothing plus freight & postage. Up to 6" wide, up to 18" long (specify).
  • Teeth will be pre-cut at 5.5 to 17 PPI (specify). There will be no discount for untoothed plate as Ron is cutting the teeth as a favour.
  • Offcuts from your plates can also be supplied either blank for free (you can make scrapers) or for $2 each you can have them toothed to your spec for sharpening templates/guides or for practicing your techniques. Hence why you might want some offcuts toothed at 5.5 - 17 PPI if you wish. You CANNOT order offcuts without ordering Saw Plate.
  • All plates will be supplied with the "bluing" still in place (as a rust inhibitor).
  • ½" Brass Saw Nuts & Bolts (square under head) $15.90 a pair to suit handle thickness 13/16" to 1-1/32" (20.6mm to 26mm). Milled from 360 Brass, You CAN order these without ordering plate.
  • Brass Backs: RayG has also very kindly offered to make these at a very reasonable price (as yet unknown). They will be pre-slit, and a further announcement will be made in due course (but you can express your interest now).

The reason that the different thickness plates are all the same price is because they are already cheap (particularly for toothed plate), and it keeps it simple.


Int.Freight will be apportioned by total weight of your order. It will be very reasonable (possibly even cheaper than the domestic postage here) as this package will be consolidated with other packages coming in from the USA. Therefore, there may be a slight delay (2-6 weeks?)while the total package fills up. It is not possible to know what the cost will be until we have the complete order (and the complete larger package), but if there is a good quantity ordered, itshould be in the realm of $2 to $7 per plate, depending on thickness and size. Nuts and Bolts freight will be tiny.
As the freight is unknown at this point, a safe but reasonable over-estimation will be made for your order (including domestic postage here), and excess funds will be returned to you at the end.

Having the teeth pre-cut on a Foley is a giant head start for making a saw,and at the price on offer, it's a real bargain. If you ever thought of making your own saw now is the time to try!
