Charity Event in Brisbane - Well Done.....
G'Day Expat,
Sounds like a good day for all in Brisbane,
bit far from the Lower Blue Mountains with a new hip to get there.
I hope a lot of people turn up and a heap of money is raised.
Well done for your efforts, especially from so far away.
Cheers, Crowie

Less than a week to go now till we revive the Charity Bowl and raise much needed funds for the Qld Disaster Relief Appeal and the Spinal Research folks.
Loads of local and international companies have donated products and services to the cause and if you'd like to know more about them and what this game s all about go to: Log In | Facebook
I'm flying out of Toronto and meeting up with some other players in LA on Monday. Then it's on to Brissie and then Saturday arvo it's game time!

Well there I am #00 for the Wardogs at Spencer Park in Brisbane last Saturday, August 6th.
We had a great crowd and over 80 players 35yo and above turn up to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the first Charity Bowl and raise funds for the Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal and Qld Spinal Research.
In all we raised over $8,000 through gold coin donations, raffles and auctions which included the wonderful display case built by EnfieldGuy containing two unique football helmets that went for more than $1,000!
We're keeping this event going from now on and I'm looking forward to heading back next year this time with the family in tow.

Your wish is my command!
Wardogs sideline.
No quarter was given be either side although at a somewhat slower pace than 20 years ago!
59yo QB and 53yo center warming up.
Lots of hitting even though the years have taken their toll on most of us. The RB here is "only" 36 and still playing in the local comp for Toowoomba Wolves.
Out on the field at last! I hadn't played since '98 and it felt good to be out there again. #75 Kelvin Howsan of the Bluesteel team was just back from the World Cup of American Football in Austria. The Australian "Outback" played the USA (#1 defending Champs), Mexico (#4) and Germany (#5 & European Champs) in their pool games and Austria in the medal round. Kelvin is playing for the Kenmore Bears in the Gridiron Queensland comp and is another "kiddie" at only 36.
I'm 6' so what do you reckon #75 Kelvin and the big copper in #54 are? Bluesteel had some big fellas out there but we did okay.
No way through us on this play!
The end of a fantastic day of fun and laughter. 80+ players 35 and older raising money for charity and smiles all round from start to finish.
Last one and this is a special one for me. These are the members of the Brisbane Bulldogs. We were the Sunbowl Champions 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1992 & 1993. We made the championship game in 1988 but the club folded in 1997. Some of the boys who played aren't in the photo but next year we hope to have a full offence and defence out there and actually line up for a few plays as the Bulldogs once again. That'll be a sight to see.
Spencer Park first Saturday in August, 2012. See you all there!

Thanks fellas. We still have some of the merchandise left from the event if anyone might want to help with our fund raising efforts.
We have Wardogs and Bluesteel mini helmets available as well as some of the fallen club mini helmets all $A50 each plus shipping from Qld.
We also have a another run of our replica jerseys being made due to overwhelming demand for them. Those are $A75 plus shipping and available in US sizing up to 8XL!!! Kids sizes as well.
Last but not least we also have a small run of the game t-shirts which feature all of the team helmets used in Qld over the years plus the Wardogs and Bluesteel logos, game shield and GQ logo. Those are $A40 plus shipping and available in US sizing up to 5XL.
All profits go to funding next year's event and ultimately to our charities.
