Retiring Super Moderator
Groggy has retired from the position of Super Moderator as of yesterday. He was decommissioned this morning and now has the moderating power of a gnat... sorry regular member. Next to none.
So.... Give him hell folks, he probably deserves it.

On a serious note: I would sincerely like to thank Greg for his tireless efforts as a Moderator and Super Moderator and goodwill ambassador over the last couple of years.
The position of moderator is a mostly a thankless job that takes many, many hours a week, it 100% voluntary, has been known to make enemies of friends and to attract all sorts of ridicule and nasty comments from members, (mostly all unwarranted) it can be soul destroying and kills the fun and excitement of regular forum use. It can also be extremely rewarding and give a sense of fulfilment on the odd occasion.
Gerg will be sorely missed by the Administrators and all the moderators. His time with us definitely made life a lot easier for everyone in the back room. His running of the Forum Stand at last years WWW Show was excellent and with only a few days notice was a real feat.
He has been an extremely fair and impartial moderator who has tried to do his best for all members without fear or favour. I will certainly miss him and his input, along with his often steadying influence.
He will be staying on as a full member of the forums and will continue to participate, but now it will go back to having fun and the sheer enjoyment of being just a member. No longer will he have to deal with the childlike fights and the slanging matches or the hundreds of spammers, pedlars and other low lifes that visit here to try and disrupt the peace.
Good luck Greg.............. ENJOY!
Cheers - Neil

Retiring? I may call Groggy a few things, but "retiring" isn't one of them.
Good onya for your efforts, Greg. So what are you going to fill your spare time with now? Tool collecting?

Thanks for the kind words everyone . I had hoped to sneak off into obscurity but Neil has put paid to that - I couldn't even delete the thread
It isn't always easy moderating, you make virtual friends and sometimes they have an off day which means you have to make some decisions. Mostly people accept it and some are quite gracious about it. Others take offence and that is unfortunate, but the underlying approach of the mods is to make the forums a place where you can get information and have a little fun.
The mods do the best they can to make that happen with the backgrounds they walk in with, so there is bound to be some variance and the occasional error. All the mods though, past and present, do what they hope is the right thing for the forums, whether it eventually turns out that way only time can tell.
One point I'd like to make is the mods are there to moderate, not to adjudicate, which can be a fine line at times, and certainly it can be perceived to be biased if someone happens to be moderated a couple of times in a row.
To the thousands of members who post here, it has been occasionally frustrating, but mostly informative, funny and worthwhile. Thanks to everyone who has supported me while I have been moderating. My apologies to those I haven't pleased at times, perfect solutions are hard to find
I look forward to being a member again.
Special thanks to Neil, , Steven, Shane, Rohan, Stuart, Sean, Wendy, Rob, DJ, Jim, Noel, John, Al and Daddles for your support.

Thanks Groggy for, as Neil put it, your "steadying influence". Sorry to see you depart as a moderator.
