I survived the harrowing drive from Dog's country to the wilds of the Blue Mountains. Ousley/Hume Hwy/Narrellan Rd/ M4/ Great Western. Met up with Wheelin (Ray & Sue) and Jchappo (John) and watched and learned. Ray got me on the Ornamental Lathe, very different. This lathe is made out of Jarrah. Pester Ray for the photos of it. I brought some bit's and pieces, hada a go at cutting beads with a skew, Ray has the photographic evidence of the abominations

Quite a pleasent way to spend a Saturday

What a great day, display hands on trying other stuff and getting ideas.

Meeting up with John and Pat again.

Pat many thanks for the box of wood goodies and old tools/gouges sorry I seamed stingy I am so glad I turned on the computer in the morning to read your e-mail otherwise I would have turned up empty handed. I owe you for sure.

John great to have our chat about everything.

Pat did spend he is now proud owner of a new tool just call him Cpt Hook from now on. Sand paper by the roll I also got some before leaving Pat at $5 for 1 meter x 1 meter I got the 320 and 480.

Pat had a go at a Swash Plate lathe made by David Laird yes all of Jarrah except the motor, leather drive belt & paper clip which joins it and the return spring which is a tyre inertube. See photo's below of the lathe (not taken today).

Pat as he said got some tutorial on cutting beads using a very sharp Skew on a great little lathe (not mine). evidence below.

Sorry John missed snapping your pic again

Gee's John I just just finished making the bases for them

    Ok here they are

David Laird tuned the top and bottom shape pre the day Sue turned/created the Barley twists oh course I am very proud of her and she is over the moon with her efforts.

I turned the bases using QLD Beach thanks Noel/Outbackerr

Ps edited these are not finished yet raw as still a bit more sanding and a finish needed.
