Ian, could you confirm that Michael's bench has Benchcrafted hardware? I saw one of his benches at Bungendore Gallery and the hardware, whilst similar, did not look like Benchcrafted hardware as it seemed a little lighter in design. I have both of the Benchcrafted vises for my bench and was wondering where Michael got his vises from. Maybe this is another bench?
I've attached a pic from my phone I took at the time. Looking at it now I can't recall what was different

Hi Groggy
that's the bench
as to confirming BenchCrafted hardware ... I'm sure that's what Micheal and I discussed, and who in Oz might be the agent (AFAIR no one) but I've got other things on my mind at present so I could be wrongregards from Alberta, Canada

I had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Sturt on the Sunday morning. I would support an annual event and come back next year. They've even tempted me to come to a weekend course.
It must be good for the tool sellers as well. Must more relaxed and focused (and cheaper for them) then the sydney wood show.
I'll try to upload some photos to my blog today/tomorrow.My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

Jeremy surely not in that heat not good for the paint or the body. Nice colour by the way.
I tried to hint at LOML I could benefit from a return journey.......she didn't take the bate of seeing Sturt schools weaving class and gift shop.

You are quite right (I was b@ggered last night) but the paint seems to have gone on OK.
Glad you like the colour - but the really important thing is that SWMBO likes it!
Doesn't your SWMBO like shopping or pretending that she's going to become self-sufficient and weave all your clothes?Cheers

Ian, good to see you at Sturt
Mike is sourcing his own wheels (and is having them made to his specs), and the construction is a bit different to Benchcrafted vises, especially the wagon vise (a lot less metal - uses wooden runners). His vises are very nice, and, as you say, the bench is great.
See you (and everyone on here from Greater Sydney I suspect) at the Tool Sale 13th March - details The Traditional Tools Group (Inc.) -- Coming Events
Cheers

I went down on Sunday to have a look around and buy a LN dovetail saw. The man was most helpful in showing me two saws then I became confused and could not possibly make up my mind so had to buy both. It was a very pleasant atmosphere and I enjoyed re-visiting after an absence of some years. I too am going to do some weekend courses this year but due to confusion again I may have to do nearly all of them. I enjoy confusion.

Chris, that's why I didn't go. I knew I would get confused and have to buy products and services. I have finally come to the realization that I am a Toolaholic.

You have been looking at my tool board? I shudder to think how many thousand dollars are on it and in drawers that can't be seen and stuff I have bought for my son to start his trade, all enjoyable but all bough to fill a need at the time.
