Another MuJingFang Post
For those members in Sydney, just walked past Paul's in the city and of course I had to drop in
They appear to have discovered some more MujingFang planes.
Bought a 3/4 rebate plane $22
A small smoother, about the size of a #3 for $22
And "A European wood Plane" which is about the size of a #4.5 and has a horn shaped handle on the front for $25.
They also have some of those tiny block planes made of Rosewood and the old "High Ebony".
Cheers
Craig

There's various oblique references to the Munjifang planes on these forums.
Can someone please explain what they are and why they're so cheap/good?Cheers,
Adam

Hey, we are woodworkingly disadvantaged over here buddy.
It's just so difficult to find recycled marri, jarrah, karri, wandoo and blackbutt these days. You actually have to pay for it now
And to buy a house with enough land for a big shed we'd need at least $200k. So dont begrudge us for trying to get access to your little market. :mad:Cheers,
Adam

My (limited) understanding of the MujingFang story is that they were a plane making company in Hong Kong who went out of business and sold off their stock.
Their planes are excellent in my opinion with really good blades.
I have one of their smoothers that I actually prefer using to my (tuned) 1950's Stanley #4.
If you don't believe me, ask Derek
