Three days to go. I should add, we share the old powerhouse with the Machinery Preservation Club, the Midland CWA and the Midland and Districts Historical Society. Representatives from these groups will be in attendance, with info and displays, the CWA ladies will be providing morning tea.
Unfortunately we don't have credit card facilities, cash only.
See you there.

Well well well. Looks like I found what I'm doing on Saturday. I look after the boys Saturdays so I'll be the one chasing two toddlers around!

Yes thanks to HTPSWA for the good show. I came away with nice little 8 inch Stanley 18 bevel gauge and two boys thankfully still in one piece.

Yes it was a good day, I was near the CWA ladies so didn't have to walk far for my smoko and lunch.

Hi Geoff,
You mentioned ‘The machinery preservation club’.
What machinery are they preserving?
Is it the remnant existing machinery in the Midland Railway workshops including the Patternshop ?
If so I’d be interested in getting in touch with them.
I kicked off the Tradional Tools Group here in Sydney 30 years ago to help preserve some machinery over here but they have been taken over by a retired Woodwork teacher who just wants to hold half baked hand skills workshops.

Hi Henry,
We had a working bee prior to the sale where we had to pick up some furniture from abandoned buildings to move to the Powerhouse. The huge machinery in these buildings is very impressive, and I don't know what the future holds for it. The only contact I could find on their website is a postal address. Home
Cheers,
Geoff.

Thanks Geoff, some good info on that site.
When we were over your way a few years back I tried to get access to the Patternshop as it looks to still have some of the machinery from when it was first set up in the early 1900s.
Including a rare Wadkin Mechanical Woodworker in operating condition.
The bloke I was directed to was out of town that week so it didn’t happen.
Maybe next time if we come over to have a decko at the wildflowers

Sorry to divert this thread but the Railway Museum at Ipswich in Qld is worth the visit. We went through in 2013 and were lucky enough to only have a small group for the guided tour. The Pattern Makers workshop and display was a real eye opener. They had on display a huge arrangement of stuff that they made, from a small "G" cramp to a garden tap as well as all sorts of shaped stuff needed to run a railway.
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

Queensland Rail sold a Mechanical Woodworker thru Mannaheins around then from the big workshop just down the road.
It was in the background on photos of a Barker double disc an onseller was flogging.
I enquired re the buyer but Mannaheins quoted privacy and wouldn’t tell me.
It did show on their sale catalogue as a router.
Same description as the one that disappeared from Everliegh here in NSW.
