    Default vBulletin upgrade.

The software that runs this bulletin board/forum is vBulletin. It has been upgraded to a new version.

To have a look at it in its new form you can go to http://www.sawmillcreek.org/

Just a comment, not a critisism. I am happy with this site the way it is and am not suggesting that it needs to change. I just thought some of the members might be interested.

We have the latest version coming soon. Just waiting for a couple of bugs to be ironed out and the time to find a couple of days to tune it up when it finally goes on. Barely have time to visit the site as it is let alone the time to do the upgrade.

Will probably happen after the Sydney WWW Show. Might have a couple of spare days then. Hopefully.

Neil and Robert, The new board looks OK, but just because SOMEONE else has some new software, do we have to follow suit?? From my end, this board works perfectly well enough.

G'day Kev - The upgrade we are doing has been in the pipeline for many months now. We definitely aren't following suit. The only reason it didn't go on 6 months or more ago is because I'm just a little bit weary of new and updated versions of programs and have been waiting for most of the bugs to be ironed out of this new one before putting it on.

They just released the latest bug free (yeah right) version a few days ago and I have downloaded it ready for the upgrade and testing which hopefully will be done over the next few weeks.

The version we are using now has a goodly number of flaws which aren't really noticed too much by users, however some of them are a bloody nightmare to me. We are having trouble with auto responders, search engines, archives and even many members birthdays which have been changed to a default date of 1 January 1970.

Hopefully the new version will fix a lot of these issues and give me back around 4 - 5 hours a week which I lose now, trying to resolve these problems manually.

    Cheers - Neil
