It is probably just the terminology I am trying to be sure about.

If I film something of me messing around with one or more saws, then it ends up as between say 20mb to 400mb ... and I tried much earlier uploading such a file to wwf but it wouldn't have it ... which was when I first tried vimeo. You can load anything you have from vimeo to the forums Video. Massive 400mb files cannot be loaded directly onto the forums however pretty well all files from the services I have mentioned before should load on alright.

And I'm pretty sure you are not saying we should capture/download (eg) a Paul Sellars video - which is his work and belongs to him - and then upload the resulting large file to wwf. If it isn't copyright then there is no reason why a video can't be used on WWF. All videos will be checked for copyright and content before being allowed to display here.

So I'm assuming the aim is links to external videos (+member created of course) ... but embedded into the page so they play on the wwf page. That was the reason for the Sellars video - not for the content, but as an example of the end result I am presuming you are/were after. Correct

On the topic of categories, I might be able to fill this one: "Overlong or just awkward videos of newbies trying to figure out pretty basic stuff and trying to illustrate the dumb things they have been trying but can't adequately describe, while those who know better very kindly are too polite to express their honest evaluation of the resulting mess" Very good!

    Thanks,
    Paul

    G'day Neil, Great new initiative.

I have a YouTube channel with 25 videos on it, predominantly re woodturning. I'd be happy for them to be included in this section.

Thanks for that Brendan - I'm pretty sure all hits on here show back to your originals so it'll bump your numbers up as well.

Feel free to dump them in here whenever you like. If you want someone else to do it please let me know.

See you in a couple of weeks at PI. I presume you'll be there.

    Cheers - Neil

    Come on pen turners.....

Surely there must have a video on pen turning somewhere to fill the big blank space.
Then another one so the first doesn't get lonely. And another and another and another. Strewth it's getting crowded in here.

Come on then... Get on with it!

    Default Wood Carving

I see that we have been left at the post. I've been invited to proffer videos on both gouge sharpening and wood carving technique. My brother gave me some video gear, supposed to be digital. If I can get that stuff to work, do I have to offer it all on YouBoob and then figure out how to put links up here?
I'm flatulanced, I'd like to, but I have boats to build.

It is possible to directly upload a video to a thread as an attachment, in mp4, mpg, wmv or flv formats, as long as the file size doesn't exceed 47.68MB.

It would be good if vids could be directly uploaded into the 'Video' section as well, though, rather than in a thread which will quickly be buried.

    Default Can't enter Video section

The yellow banner on the opening page direct me have a look at the video section.
When I try to "click" on the video TAB at the top of the page, it states that I don't have sufficient privileges.

Is this true or is there a problem?

    Thanks

Permissions have been changed to allow new members to view videos. You cannot do anything else in there until a certain number of genuine posts have been made.
