NEW VIRUS!!!!!!!!!!
Subject: Major virus warning
A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft www.microsoft.com) and by McAfee (www.mcafee.com) as the most
destructive ever!
This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. This virus simply destroys
Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored.
This virus sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A
Virtual Card for You". When the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus
permanently destroying the hard disk.
According to news broadcast by CNN www.cnn.com). This VIRUS received by an employee of Microsoft itself. So don't
open any mails with subject "A Virtual Card for You".
As soon as you get the mail, delete it.
Please pass on this mail to all your friends.
Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times
than not at all.
Also: Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered recently.
If you receive an email called "An Internet Flower For You", do not open it. Delete it right away! It removes all dynamic link
libraries(.dll files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot
up.

This is just another hoax. See
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/hoaxes/virtualcard.html
Any virus warning that suggests you warn all your friends has a good chance of being a hoax. The damage is done by the propogation of the warning. There are several authoritative internet sites that have regular updates on virus hoaxes. The above link is to just one. This company also makes very good anti virus software.

Thanks Rod.
I normally don't post Virus warnings but this one came from a generally reliable source. In light of what has happened to the Grand Poobahs Puter nothing surprises me any more .

However, got this from a mate who is a pooter person.......
Folks,
One of my e-mails was recently rejected by the firewall of a large organisation with whom I sometimes exchange messages. The message was diagnosed as being infected by a virus, namely the Kak.B HTML worm, which (I think) can be passed on directly from e-mails, and does not require an attachment. I wish to warn those with whom I have recently exchanged e-mails and who will not be protected by an organisational firewall. You may have caught it from me, or I have caught it from you.
I could not detect any sympthoms in my computer, and nor, it seems, is this worm detected by everyday virus protectors. Can I suggest you go to the Symantec (Norton) service site, at http://service.symantec.com and follow your nose to locate the article on this Kek worm. From the site you can download a file fixkekb.exe which will remove the worm or give you an all clear. That program indicated that the worm had to be removed from my computer, even though there were no sympthoms of infection (yet!!).
Sorry to raise the alarm, but some or all of us are infected.
Back to me, I ran the check and I was not infected, I do have a nasty rash though

I work on a computer helpdesk and the majority of our calls are concerning forgotten passwords or viruses that have come through the email. Our firewalls and email servers detect and delete them, then it warns the user of what it has done thus making them call us to tell us they had a virus and to check that we know of it etc... unfortunately this will continue to happen as the virus creators always seem a step ahead of the virus detectors. If only they had something more useful to do with their time...
