Woodworking Survey; please help!
Hi, My Name is Taylor, and i am a 17 year old woodworker from Adelaide. I am currently studying year 12 and need some help with my research,
if you've got a spare 3 minutes or so, it would be great if you could quickly
fill out this survey about woodworking courses, (it is mainly for Adelaide
residents) if you dont live in Adelaide and there are little or no courses
available in your area than please feel free to participate.
cheers

There may be a problem with this survey. It will not accept "submit" and comes up with a message "a value needs to be entered" re how much would you pay for a course, even though there is a value entered.

when one has.
Sorry.

That survey needs a lot of work
EG If a respondents answer to 'Would You Ever Be Interested In Participating in a Paid Woodwork Course." is "no" why would they need to answer the rest of the questions ?

Hi Taylor
Is this your first pass at a questionaire or the final version?
If the first, may I suggest you increase the number of age bands you are using and/or widen the age range in each band.
If answered honestly, you should find a distinct market in people over 55 and under 80
Your cost bands are also strange
20 hours of instruction -- which in practice is more likely to be 15 hours factoring in time lost at the beginning and end of each session -- for more than $50 /hr
Don't know about you but I don't work for a merchant bankregards from Alberta, Canada

Sorry Taylor but my 10+ years as a practising statistician specializing in experimental design tells me your fundamental survey design needs work and many of the submissions you have are probably misleading at best. As others have suggested, sometimes you have to give an inaccurate response just to complete this survey so ALL our responses can't be trusted.
Most obvious thing is you've preselected possible responses but haven't included the entire set of possible responses. Then there's the matter of not having appropriate ranges for some questions (like age groupings suggested by some or cost where you've ignored the "$0 to $x category").
I understand this is for year 12 but it'll be hard to interpret and discuss results if you can't relate them to the real world. I also know yr 12 can be full on but if you have the time, a quick rework is called for.

Thanks for the structural feedback guys, the survey was created to get a rough idea of what it is people want out of a woodworking course, and what price range they are comfortable paying for.
My actual task is to develop a furniture making course for woodworking enthusiasts, so i thought it would be good to know exactly what it is people want to get from a course they would/would not pay for.<O</O
The online form builder i was using was pretty basic and didn’t allow certain parameters to be applied.<O</O
For those who submitted multiple results, i will simply remove the same surveys because your IP address information is available.<O</O
Thanks.<O</O

in that case rather than a poor attempt at a quantitative survey, why don't you go down the qualitative route and use this thread to encourage a vigorous discussion on the different types of courses and associated costs
a discussion where where some of us can give real world examplesregards from Alberta, Canada

Discussion
not sure why i didnt think of the discussion earlier ian (perhaps because i am an idiot)... in that case, i encourage everybody to place their opinion on the topic and as ian said; have a 'vigorous discussion on the different types of courses and associated costs a discussion where some of you can give real world examples'.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
