New Yankee Workshop
After querying the Lifestyle Channel about the age of New Yankee Workshop episodes I received a reply to say that a new series starts on the 16th August.

Woo Hoo. I just wish that they'd show it at some time other than 9.30 on Saturday morning.
I usually have other things to do at that time and my videos broken
I think that if they put it on on a weekday evening, when they generally have those crappy makeover shows, people would get to see how to do things properly using material that isn't MDF.
Cheers

I queried them about a week ago about times and the fact that they only show it twice on Saturdays compared to alot of the other crap thats on (didn't say that, just think it).
This is the reply:

Read that as "We have filed your letter in the circular filing cabinet".
The only time I sent Foxtel a letter was to ask why there were commercials on a station that I have to pay for. there response, in not so many words, was "its our station, we can do what we want. You dont like it, go elsewhere""I may be drunk, but you ma'am, are ugly. Tomorrow, I will be sober." Winston Churchill

Yeah that's a good point about the commercials. One of my pet hates. I beleive that they managed to sucker the government when they first started up with the argument that" not enough people had taken up their exhorbitantly proced product so that they needed to run commercials to get some ROI".
Load of bollocks of course but we all know what you can get away with if your name is Packer or Murdoch

foxtel
Dont get me started on that that pack of a....holes.
Let me tell you a little story about this miserable pack of scumbags.
Prior to moving to the south coast lived in Willoughby about 2 years before moving out Optus overhead cabled my whole street,
being nieve I took out a trail one month subscription to them.what a load of garbage;old black and white Marx brothers movies, some slo...h... who rattled of the news at a hundred miles an hour non stop as if she was on speed,etc.etc.
Needless to say I didn't renew my subscription.
After about five or six phone calls they eventually came and disconnected their box on my house, but left the cable from the street to my house connected, however this did not last long after a large thunderstorm came through and it was lying on the footpath until a council ranger came and enquired what it was,I told him, and about half an hour later a crew arrives and disconnects it from the telegraph pole.
However about 6 months later I saw some guys having a look at my telephone junction box on my footpath, went back inside thought no more about it until we tried to ring my daughter who was living in wester suburbs and about to have her first baby ,with husband overseas with the Army.Put in a call to telecom, cant come for three days. I did a rather large dummy spit and as a result they waived all charges on my mobile for the duration it was taking to repair.Meanwhile I lifted the lid on the junction box ,heres my telephone conection lying in the bottom of it broken in half, seems the two guys were from Foxtel and were installing Pay tv,as well as my phone line being broken had cut trough my driveway with a concrete saw, another dummy spit this time ring up Melbourne Head office,"no not us" deny any knowledge of working there ,complain about driveway being cut ,further deny.
So wait until things are all repaired, Foxtel finishes ,I take a series of photographs showing from the point of attachment on the telephone post outside ,down the pole, into the ground across driveway, enlarged photos to a4 size send them of to Melbourne with stinking letter.
Two days later same two guys arrive back, put asphalt across my drive way where they had cut,I challenge them about this "We only make temporary repairs we're not allowed concrete any ones driveway"
Go back inside while they are both there, try to use phone " DONT TELL ME THOSE BASTARDS HAVE DONE IT AGAIN"
Go back out to junction box lift lid cable seems okay, pull cable out of pipe, broken in half again!Do another dummy spit, call the guys all
sorts of dopey a....holes etc etc ,met with dumb looks.(good thing I was 120 kg and still very fit then)
So they p..s off never to be seen again.Sure enough about two weeks later guys come along repair drive way as good as was before.
Anyhow just happen to be doing some gardening, trimming grass around telegraph pole sometime later and found Foxtel cable,go inside pick up large crowbar and proceed to dig around base of telegraph pole ,gee thats bad luck! cut Foxtel's cable in half.
Next day Foxtel crew arrive proceed to dig up ground around base of telegraph pole and mend cable this time putting poly pipe around for protection,
Next day just happened to be trimming around telegraph pole go get large crowbar repeat performance.
Foxtel never heard from again!!!
Talking to old Greek guy at the top of my street a little later ask him if he has cable tv ,says yes but kept breaking down so told them to shove it ,says nobody in street can get FOXTEL always breaking down so most told them to shove it.
I hope they and Optus continue to haemorage and lose millions of bucks I could not care less about the bastards!!!!

Do I sense a subtle hint of displeasure here?
Just buy Mags and you get to keep them too.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

I don't know about cable tv but I have had cable internet and telephone ever since Optus started up in Melbourne and strung up our cable.
I must be lucky because I have not had any problems form Optus at all and I found their technicians helpful - they even installed the modem directly into our home network router so SHMBO and daughter can be onto the net at the same time as myself.

Coastie,
Love your form of direct action. It is so wonderful to see that there are people still willing to confront an injustice, so many of us have been beaten down by large corporations and take whatever comes without complaint.

Great to see that they have seriously considered DavidW's email and have now REDUCED the number of weekly replays (to a bit fat zero). Probably done as a reduction in broadcasting rights, ahead of screening the new season.......

Ken,
I do exert quite a bit of 'parental control' however the little one is a bit hard to handle at the moment and does not understand 'parental control' (18 months old and teething). What he does understand and keeps him nice and quite is The Wiggles or High Five. When he is quite and calm, SWMBO is quite and calm and that means so am I.
However, I DO normally get to watch it in the morning but I just know that, when the new shows start, I will miss one and be royally p$%ssed off as I wont be able to record it later like I have doneWayne
