Good and Cheap Curries
Hi
Just to let the members know that if they want good and cheap (We pay $25.00 for me, my wife and 6 yrs old), You can not go wrong at Wigram St, Harris Park in Sydney. My 6 yrs old likes particularly at "TAJ".

extra mild red curry (home made)
turn the oven on
500gm premium mince (woolies)
1\3rd onion chopped fine
1 tin roma peeled tomatoes (homebrand) - remove 1cm at stalk end and chuck - chop the rest up
1\4 tsp medium curry powder
1\4 tsp cummin powder
1\2 tsp turmeric powder
add mince, onion and spices to pan - brown mince
add chopped tomatoes
cover and simmer - stir now and again
spread frozen chips on tray and place in oven
crack bottle home brew cider - relax for 10 minutes
place frypan on stovetop - add 2 tbsp oil
heat until blue haze seen
chuck in japati's - cook to crip (don't burn them)
keep them warm
serve red curry, chips and japati's with what's left of home brew cider
Serves 3 - cost less than 5 dollies....

drop Iain a line, he mentioned brewing cider in the ginger beer thread, in the brewing section..
I may even have a recipe somewhere here, will have a look for youI may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

The Sri Lankan in Macquarrie St Parramatta, just on the park side of the main drag, is wonderful. Absolutely dreadful decor - cheap pink paint everywhere, plastic flowers etc.
Service speed can be a bit iffy at times - you will see literally gallons of takeaway going out the door, including bainmaries, missionary sized pots etc - they seem to do catering too. The black curried pork is magnificent - the only thing I have had that really compares is a proper Turkey Mole (Chocolate Turkey/chicken). But its not as cheap as Harris Park
