    Thanks Trev.

We were in Tassie for 6 weeks in March/April this year and had a ball. Planning to go back as we haven't seen half of it I reckon.

Wouldn't mind living there if it wasn't for that bit of water in between, makes it an expensive exercise and the family wouldn't be too impressed either.

How come your photos don't show up as thumbnails Fred?
    Great shots by the way.

    And all done without Photobucket

After seeing the amount of angst created by the Photobucket announcement, which has always been the preferred forum policy as long as I have been a member, I looked for a way to get photos to display within the text but not in thumbnail form.

I remembered that Grumpy John displays his photos in the text so asked him how he did that. John suggested I ring him and he would walk me through it, I'll attempt to explain it here.

1 Go to Manage Attachments as per normal

2 Once you have Selected and Uploaded your photo, click Inline then Done. Your photo is now in the post but in Thumbnail format.

3 Double click the Thumbnail, another box comes up with some selections. I select Center and Full Size (John selects Large).
You can still view the photo in full screen mode by right clicking the photo and selecting View Image.

The difference, on my computer/screen combo anyway, is that selecting Large gives a much larger photo that doesn't fit within the post boundaries and doesn't resize when I change the screen sizing, when I select Full Size it fits within the post boundaries and resizes with the screen sizing.

You may have to experiment on your computer.

If al this is not clear let me know and I will put up a few screen shots.

Good explanation Fred, glad to have helped .

They look good Fred. I like the size they are showing on my screen.
I click large for mine, but they don't show up nearly as big as yours. I might have to start clicking "full size" for my pics too. I liked the size mine were when I was uploading them at 1000 pixels on the long side but since changing them back to 800 x 600 they only take up about 10% of my screen, yours are taking up about 50% of my screen (27" mac) they look great.
    Are you making yours 800 x 600 pixels ?

Not resizing these shots at all Brad, in fact I am uploading them at the original size and letting the forum uploader take care of the resizing.

If I select Large they come up larger than if I select Full Size, may pay you to experiment with your setup.

OK, thanks Fred. I tried doing like you said on a photo over in my Jumping Spider thread, could you give me feedback there please.
I also changed the first photo in the first post to "full size" but it was uploaded as I normally do.

I am also wondering about the photos being this big, if someone right clicks on them and steals them, do they get the full size file ?

Brad, both those photos now fit complete within the bounds of the post on my screen and resize with resizing the window.

Double clicking on them no longer brings up the forum photo viewer, but right clicking and selecting View Image works.

The last photo shows up as 97.2kb, so no they won't get a full size photo if they download it.

Thanks Fred. It took about a minute for the forum to resize that spider photo last night, OK for one photo but multiples would be painful. I might try a couple of different ideas I have tonight when I get home.

    Just testing some photo uploads.

    Using format picture
    IMG_2168.jpg

Using "remove format" button in menu (leaves the thumbnail at the bottom of the post)

This could be my lesson for the day.
