Here's a bit of a blast from the not too distant past. Some of you may have had or remember some of these. All written, printed in house and compiled by me with help from Pauline.

Woodworkers calendar 1995 to 2000
Back in 1995 I published for students a calendar complete with:
  • List of all the clubs at the time in Australia (All who actually responded with their info)
  • Exhibitions, shows, demonstrations, etc along with dates.
  • List of suppliers.
  • Classes
  • Plus the earliest info on internet sites - Not that there were many to list back then
  • Oh yeah a large view calendar 1 month per A4 page
  • Lots of woodies jokes. and other stuff.

The calendars got bigger from 1995 until 1998 then in in 1999 I had the same trouble that I guess many have. No information coming back from clubs, event organisers etc. Secretaries changed hands or passed away without giving new contact info and so in 2000 with lack of input from much of the woodworking world I published the last of the calendars. Clubs and event organisers were not charged and many clubs and events grew and flourished partly because of the calendars. There was a charge to commercial advertisers For 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 page ads

Anyway for the last Calendar I splashed out on a new inkjet colour printer and for those who wanted it there was coloured front page as shown below. Charged an extra 20 cents for that special coloured cover. Woohoo.
Did another in 2001 but don't have a copy of it and can't remember if it ever went out to clubs, or just a select few.

Along with the Calendars I also published a pocket sized Woodies Diary for 3 years which were sent out with the calendars.
They were all well used and both the calendars and diaries were highly prized by woodworking reps who had no other way of knowing what was happening or how to contact clubs etc. But I guess all good things have to come to an end sometime. By 2000 phones and internet were also starting to take off with information and calendars etc.

If you have old well well used versions of the calendars, diary or book post a picture in this thread and I will pick the best one of the worst and send the winner a copy of current edition of A Polishers Handbook.

Cheers - Neil

PS Don't go and purposely wreck a calendar, diary or book just to get a new one, because you might not win.
