Great little critters. I have had them nesting in the roof frame of my shed for quite a number of years. I suspect that they are relatives of successive parents. One years they bread up 2 clutches of eggs to produce 7(I think) chicks for the one season. I just marvel at how diligent the parents are in there care of the chicks. They work really hard.

One year I wanted to show the wife the little fellas jammed into their nest. I set up the step ladder with a mirror for her to view them. The chicks got such a fright with me being so close and jumped ship and fledged as I got close. Within 15 minutes three out of the four had been lunch for other birds. The lone survivor took to being fed by mum and dad in some bushy plants. I was so sad to have caused these little things demise.

What I have observed with them is that I can go in and out of the shed and they take no notice of me while they go about their feeding duties but if someone else walks in they tend to dive bomb the intruder. I also have, from time to time, a family of swallows that camp in the shed as well. Boy they make a mess. But it only takes a shovel to remove the fertiliser.

    Nature right in my shed
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod
