Close ups
We have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FS3 camera. I have not been able to capture some of the images I would like of wildlife.
The problem is getting close enough to get detail of birds and animals, and some floral things. For instance there are some very beautiful ducks here, but they wander away when I get any closer than about 5mts. Can I get a telephoto lens of some sort?

Use the Zoom Arthur camera has 3x optical zoom and then digital zoom on top
I know the major add on lens manufacturers such as Hoiya and Conika have zoom adaptors for such as your camera check their web sites.

Ray I know it has a zoom that I have used. It is actually x4.8 but that is still not good enough for some applications.
I will wait until I get home and then look at taking some photography lessons!!!

A review I read said the camera produced slightly soft images.
You maybe loosing a lot of detail in a closeup of birds etc with that
I just noticed it has 4.8 optical zoom.My camera has 6.0 zoom, and I think that that is about minimum for what I do with it.
You dont have to use it all but is good for what you need ,taking shots of birds.Back To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

Thanks Aussie. You are right. The images are slightly soft but that is not a problem for most stuff.
I do have some problems with getting true colour though where the colour is dark. See my Hibiscus photo.

Arthur what settings have you on the white balance, colour etc?
Are you switching to macro??
Is anti-shake turned on??

There are multiplier lenses available for some compact digital camera models, but a quick scour of ebay didn't turn any up for your specific camera.
If your camera lens has a screwed fitting on the end, you may be able to add one of the generic types, but don't expect miracles from it.
If you are really trying for tight shots from a distance, you'll have to look at an SLR style camera with a 300mm + telephoto lens.
Some compact digital cameras have the ability to be remote controlled - if yours is like this, you could try setting it up on a small tripod then walking back a few meters and trying to ambush your targets.

Anti shake is on all the time.
Light balance might need to be checked.
Can't screw any extra lenses on.
Does not seem to have a remote facility.
Guess I'm stuck unless Santa is extra, extra generous.

here you go HOYA FILTERS - The Difference is Clear
They make them so they slip onto the end Arthur just have to remember to remove them before turning the camera off.
