Crested pigeons are kind of " who cares" to most people , but they are really quite good looking birds. It is hard to photograph them at just the right angle toget all those metallic colours in the wing tips - they are quite spectacular.
I gave up and just took the photo from front on.____________________________________________________________

Nice crisp shots Fred!! The crested pigeon came out very well!!!
Glad you got the name right. So many people refer to these lovely little fellows as topknots or turtle doves.
We have resident population here. Fun to watch as they walk the fence and flit about.

Well photographed Fred
They are very common around our area, we would have a population of at least 15 pairs around the place. Commonly known as "toppies" here.
The male is very "active" spending half his life chasing the female and doing his mating dance, she playing hard to get. She must give in sometimes as they usually hatch 2 sets of eggs every year.
They are a fairly gentle bird but no pushover. When being intimidated by the very territorial Noisy Miners they don't flinch and they are slowly but surely pushing the Noisy Miners out their territory.
We don't get any of the little Sparrows around here, but lost of Noisy Miners, Butcher Birds, a ton of Rosellas, Magpies, Ravens and we have a resident pair of Whistling Kites. The Kites nest every year in the red Gums along the creek on our properties' border.
Oh, at certain times of the year we get Ibis as well.
Quite interesting to live on 25 acres.

Thanks for the comment.
I have nearly the same birds as you in the garden apart from the Ibis and the kites.
A couple of days back i was sitting in the garden and i heard lots of activety in the bottlebrush trees on next doors fence line.
Suddenly a family of noisy miners shot out and landed on the TV ariel, two adults and two immatures, followed closely by about eight New Holland Honey eaters.
The Honey eaters won.
PS we don't have ravens either. lolCheers Fred
