Dud to Psychelic with Adobe
Hi everyone
I am still learning about my new D90, and spent yesterday photographing the Bright area. Needless to say, most of my photos were duds, in my opinion.
I set about deciding what to salvage. Whilst in Photoshop, I started playing about with Artistic filters, as well as the colour curves in Raw. I was surprised at the transformations that could be made.
I like this. What do you think.?

Interesting...
I really like what it has done to the bridge, it's given it a nice texture but it kinda turns the trees into a bit off a mess.
Maybe you could crop it down a bit, worth a try.
Grew up around Bright, nice area for photographic opportunities (and fishing). I especially liked going up to Mt Buffalo, lots of nice things to capture.
Good luck with the D90, wish i had one.

Sorry to hi-jack your nice piccie......
But when i said that it turned the trees into a bit of a mess, i only meant the bushes to the left.
I cropped it a bit and came up with this result, still retains alot of the original but closes in on the interesting stuff.
Apologies for altering your image.
Steven.

not sure if I could do it myself but I wonder how it would look if you could put the new version of the bridge on a layer over the top of the original photo?
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

I had a play... not pretty and there has to be an easier way of doing it than what I did.

Hi all
Thanks for your comments guys. Perhaps I didn't really explain why I posted this. I was just taken with the colours, and the shading that came out with the curves and filters.
I see this sort of thing as having so much potential for artistic licence and printmaking, as well as material for my painting.
I had no intention of realism, rather looking at what sort of shades, shadows, highlights emerged with the filters and curves.
Printed on fine quality photo paper (Ilford Fine Art smooth) I think it is quite a lovely study in colour.
Cheers
LiliB
