A new visitor to our neck of the woods. They accompany the Rainbow Lorikeets that come in daily for a few Sunflower seeds but I don't think they are young lorikeets as they are considerably smaller, about 15 to 18cm long and the Rainbows are 25cm plus.

My Simpson & Day Field Guide to the Birds of Australia have the Budgerigar at 18cm so maybe that is what they are.

Would appreciate any help. Cheers, FredS0012192.jpgDSCF2087.jpgDSCF2094.jpg

Hi Dareen, I'm nearby in Tallai. Do you go to the woodturning club?

Definately not a budgie. A scaley breasted lorikeet.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Hi George, No, not yet, but have been meaning to call in for some time. I do not have a lathe but really enjoy checking out the Woodturner's Display at the Mudgeeraba Show. Will make it a definite to call in in 2017.
    Cheers, Fred

Thank you for that NCA. I saw that one in my book but thought these chaps were too small. Cheers, Fred
