    Spot on! These are microscope images of Micromesh pads. Photos have different magnification - simply because under large magnification larger grit will be too large to fit the image! The top left one is 12000 grit - the grain size is about 5 microns! The roughest one in the bottom right corner of the image (1500 grit) has grain over 100 micron in size. The pads look like small sand grains in some coloured "epoxy-looking" glue.
