Home-brew macro shot.
Hi all,
I found a tired bee outside with the kids the other day, so we gave it a drop of honey to drink from which got it on its way again. Before it flew off, I shot this with an 18-55 IS zoom sighting through a 50 mm prime in reverse to get the magnification.
Who would have thought that bees have hairy eyes?
All very agricultural with the reversed 50 mm prime hand held against the filter on the zoom, but it works. Sort of. Enough to make the kids go 'wow!', anyway. One of these days, I'll buy a dedicated macro, but this will do for now.
I wouldn't advise doing this without a cheap lens filter to protect your optics, as it's easy to make contact with the lenses.
Cheers
Mick

Here's another way to get extreme close-up shots: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/wire-burning-43170/
Probably a few others, via search for "loupe."
