OK, I have a new macro lens since those last photos.
I now have a Nikon AF-S 105mm f2.8G VR micro lens.
I am able to keep a bit more distance between the lens and the bugs now.

Damn GOOD Brad....
How big is the raw file please??
I am starting to look at replacement camera's for a JVC DV Video Camera and have been suggested to look at mid-ranged SLR's; so far have been looking at the Fuji X-E1 with a couple of lens & accessories for about 2.5.....Is that in the ball park of your setup??
Cheers, crowie

Hi Crowie, I cant tell you off the top of my head the raw file size, I will look tonight.
I just resize the ones I want to upload to the internet to aprox 120kb, the originals get archived.
I have a Nikon D7100, I see them in my local camera shop for 1500 body only. Depending what lens/lenses you want, you could come in under 2500. I have got 5 Nikkor lenses now, so I am in quite a bit deeper than that.
I dont use my camera for video, but I have read that it a very capable camera for video.Brad.

nice shots, good angles on the insect/spiders. macro photography is one of my favourite types of photography.
Most important thing with macro is getting that nice soft, diffused light onto the subject.

Well what great shots!!!! The wife has rekindled an interest in Photography with digital cameras. When we first met (over 35 yers ago) it was something we could both "do". But as the years went by and eyesight was affected I put my old SLR down while she persevered for a bit longer. I now use a "hand me down" point and shoot digital while she has gotten into a SLR Digital and has taken some great shots. She was wondering how you all managed to get the subjects to stay still long enough to be shot
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod
