Point Nepean NP
Took a drive down to Point Nepean NP on Wednesday arvo and took some snaps of the tunnels. Enjoy.

They look great! Were they long exposures? What sort of time?
Number 8 is intriguing. Something interesting could be up the stairs.anne-maria.

They're all HDR shots. I went for a natural look as opposed to something more "intense".

High Dynamic Range imaging. All except one are 7 shot images, 1, 2, 3 stops under exposed and 1, 2, 3 stops over exposed plus 1 shot with no exposure compensation. Hope this makes sense.

Thank you John for the beaut photos.
I must have sailed past that point a few times on "grey funnel line" and on the "tassie ferry", but never saw it.
Very much like the first one.

Thanks for showing Grumpy, the pics capture that aspect of the place pretty well. I used to walk there with a surfboard starting from a few hundred metres south from the pier at Portsea. It's a beautiful part of the bay with many moods and very dangerous water as the you get closer to the rip. It used to take about three and a half hours to get there along the beach, all the way hoping that no one would demand you turned back (there are stories). As you got closer to the rip on a outgoing tide the water rushes like a river and it was possible to paddle a surfboard within a metre or so from the beach as fast as a jog. Thankfully each time I went there I got a ten minute boat ride back to Portsea pier from surfers who came across from Queenscliff. It always felt a spooky sort of place with the slitted gun domes poking up and tunnels seemly leading no where.

Great photos GJ. I remember exploring around there when I was a kid.
We were told, and believed, that the tunnels extended for miles into the cliffs and that some kids had gone missing years before, never to be seen again. It all added to the excitementThose were the droids I was looking for.

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm planning a full day down there in the not too distant future. It will be a midweek journey to avoid the weekend tourists. If anyone is interested in joining me send a PM and we can work something out.
