    Default Olive-backed Oriole in Tasmania.

I've had a great day with the camera around the place.
One shot I snapped of bird amongst some branch's looked a little odd.

I'd never say I know all the different types of birds that live in Tasmania.
But this one looked like nothing I'd seen in any of the guide books.

    Turn's out it's an Olive-backed Oriole.
The bird belongs on the mainland and not here in Tassie.
I did some research online and found some reported sightings of the bird on the island back in 2008.
One of them was from around the St. Helens area.

I couldn't find any photos of the bird that had been taken in Tasmania.
You never know I may have got the first one?.
Even better if it is "It's at my place" KOOL!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

    Yep, that's pretty unusual.

You should submit the record - Google Birdline Tasmania or Eremaea.com or Birding-Aus. Its important to submit records - we need to make rare and unusual occurrences public otherwise we don't have the collective knowledge when it comes to looking after our wild assets.

The word must be spreading amongst the bird community about your compassion for wildlife, so they're all heading your direction.
