Default Ornate Photo Albumettes or Opening Frames?...

    Dear Fellas,

I want to give copies of four or five photos - some landscape, some portrait - to an uncle of mine, but I want to present them in either a very high quality Albumette (if you get my drift...) or some type of ornate timber box or frame that opens up (again, if you get my drift...), so that the whole thing is a storable (but very high quality) item.

I wonder if any of you know of any manufacturers (perhaps with a website) who do this sort of thing, or else who might be selling such things up here in Brisbane?

    Many Thanks,
    Batpig.

Hi, how's this for an idea? It's a photo album I made as a commission for some fellow woodwork friends. They wanted an album to showcase their work, one that was unique, but allowed them to remove/add/change the pages when new work was completed.

    Cheers
    Wendy

    Dear Wendy,

That looks lovely. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for at this stage, but my instinct tells me to look at as large a range of things as possible, and once I see something that takes my fancy, to then have the photos reproduced to sizes that would suit display within the unit. I didn't want it to be alterable. Something Leatherbound or in Timber with hinges would be ideal. There is a lot of emotion involved, so it would have to be a very traditional-looking item.

    Many Thanks,
    Batpig.

    Hi Batpig, some more ideas.

A small Wooden Photo Album - Silky Oak and a Maple one

    Small means 190 x 155

Another idea is to make a frame that has a flip cover on it, so it flips back, attaches and uses the flip cover as the stand to display the photo.

    cheers
    Wendy

They're superb, Wendy. Getting close, but I wasn't really after something with leafs, though - just hinges I think. I might go down to the local Westfield tomorrow and have a sniff around... Once I see something that looks right, I can then the photos printed up in sizes to suit.

    Thanks again,
    Batpig.
