    I actually have and use a Russian manufactured panoramic camera with a rotating lens, but for what you are after, I think this may be the ticket.

    to take the photo I used a Sony NEX 6 and Sony's included panographic program which snaps a shot every 1/2 sec or so as the camera is rotated -- to my mind the "killer" reason to buy a Sony

    Here is an example where a panoramic tripod head is worth using.

    Hand held

    Last week I brought a Sony DSC-HX300 because its optical zoom is equivelant 1200mm focal lenght (if thats the right terminology) and then theres digital on top of that, and its price. In discovering what it can do I came across its panorama capability and its very simplistic use... needless to say I'm impressed.
    Experienced in removing the tree from the furniture
