Default Photo editing software help please

    Hello everyone

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro lap top computer and I would like to purchase a photo editing program which specifically allows writing text on photos. I would hope I would be able to alter the size of text as required.

I need this because I would like to edit work in progress photos of woodwork items I build.

The iPhoto program on my mac does not allow for text editing.

I have surfed the net but am still not sure.

    Any help would be appreciated

Even a freebie like Googles' Picasa allows you to do text on photos, altering fonts, font sizes and colours.

It will do lots of other things besides, such as phto editing, frames, collages, you name.

It is also one of the easiest to use photo organising software around and you can email and resize direct from Picasa.

Not sure if you are familiar with Photoshop... but there is a free equivalent called GIMP and it works on OS X.

Do a google on "gimp" and you'll find a download.

    Mick and Fred

Thanks very much for the info and I must admit I did not see these programs. I will now check them out.

    Cheers

At $50, Acorn is a great Photoshop alternative. If you want free, then as per realboy, GIMP is pretty good.

If you have a Macbook Pro you have lots of processing power.

I would buy Photoshop Elements. It is a bit over $100 but you get a lot for your money.

It does simple stuff like basic editing easily.
You can be as creative as you like with many features.

Maybe start with the free GIMP to get a feel for Photoshop or you can download a free trial version of Photoshop.
