Default Photo Question / help required

    Hello Everyone
am trying to get a web site up and running to maybe get my pens out there a bit more
but iv hit a problem that is proving to be a bit of a head ache (for me anyway)
i want to load a photo of my pens onto the home page of my site but it wont load up
the web developer tells me that the image is too big and that i have to resize the image into a smaller size 292pixels X 219 pixels
what ever that means to get it to load.
i was imformed that i needed a program like photo shop to do it
ok easy, i down loaded a trial version of photo shop, and yep do you think i can work it out.nope.
so if there is someone out there that could help me out with info on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated
please bear in mind i am only a simple miner who blowes stuff up for a living so not real tech/ computer smart. no Phd etc
thanks in advance for any feed back
    cheers Tony

Tony, Photoshop would be using a sledge hammer to crack a walnut (or whatever the miners' equivalent is)

If you download a program called Irfanview (free) you can do a miriad of things to pictures.
To do what you want to do you would Open the picture-Image-Resize/Resample, and you can set the size to any number of pixels you want.
To get to 291x219 you have to unclick the Preserve Original ratio check box.

Any problems give me a hoy.

Tony your computer may already have the program to do it. When you open up a picture, what program opens it?
Internet explorer, windows photo viewer, or another?

Sounds like you'll get there with Fred's or Steve's help, but if you do decide to make use of Photoshop (seeings how you've got the trial already):
    Open the image in PS
Click "Image" up the top left and
    roll down to "Image Size"
which will open up a little window....

....you can change the size either by pixels or centimetres, but first, if you click "Constrain Proportions" at the bottom of that little window then you only have to change one of the pixel dimensions and the photo will have the same dimensional ratio (i.e. the second dimension will change automatically).

If you make a mistake just use "Cntrl Z" which will undo what you just did.

    hi Tony

Pixels are the dots which make the you see on the screen
the standard spacing is around 72 pixels to the inch -- it's US standard

    292 x 219 pixels works out at about 100 x 75 mm on screen
    regards from Alberta, Canada
