    Default My Photography

    Hi all,

I dabble in a bit of photography for fun. I shoot in both digital and film and have developed some of my film at home for fun. I haven't had a lot of time to shoot recently and certainly not in film which is a shame. Here's some of my work.

1/ I started shooting street scenes

2/ I'm going to build a frame and print this one.

4/ Lately I've been shooting lots of street and this is why I do it. This is one of my favourite photos.

5/ Some of my film. This is from a series where I take photos of people sleeping on trains. Lots here.

6/ Another sleeper at Town Hall

7/ I also like to shoot cars.

8/ Motion is hard to do right and I love the challenge.

    9/ More motion

10/ I also shoot a lot on my iPhone these days as it seems to be the only camera I carry everywhere.

    That's it. Thanks for looking.

To be blunt, up front, and possibly provocative = skip the color.
Your B&W sells itself. Mind you, I've done B&W for 55 yrs and sold it for just 35, what would I know? Nothing bigger than 32 x 40"
One suggestion, if you get the hots to chase the cash = vertical format sells.

    Thanks for the compliments all.

Robson, I really enjoy b&w but mostly with film. I don't think I'll be chasing cash as it's just a hobby for me. Best to keep it fun. Besides, there is so much competition out there and so many much more talented photographers that I think it's best left to them.

I think this image is absolutely stunning, I keep coming back to this post to look at it. My eye keeps wandering to the guy walking toward the camera and I can't help wondering what sort of day he had at work.
IMHO you could quite easily sell this image in a street cafe close by.

Back in the mid 70's when I bought my first SLR camera, the store I bought it from were offering free photography lessons. One of the "rules of photography" that they preached was never shoot into the sun, you'll get lens flare and your image will lack detail. Rules were meant to be broken .

Very true John. However, I have also read many times that to be able to break the rules, you first must learn them.

Now go out there and shoot into the sun. I make a habit of it...

You're quite right. Rules and limits, you first need to understand them before you can push them to their limits

Now go out there and shoot into the sun.
    I do.

Very nice John. That first one has a HDR quality to it.

Let me put my critic hat on - Love the tones in the second one. Very calming and warm and the layers of the background add a perfect sense of depth. Top stuff there.

George brilliant photos well worth showing even in a gallery or maybe creating your own personal Calender for family and friends., maybe not the sleepers tho.

I love the first one also the fellow walking towards almost looks like Christos on his way to work or home thinking of woodwork.

I liked two40's "Golden Slipper" picture. (also speed racer was a favourite when I was a lot younger!)
I thought I had a few shooting into the sun types, I tried to get the persons silhouette in the first shot, I was trying to get stark lights and darks on the day, but not quite there. I don't think it was quite dark enough at the time:

And just for laughs on the same day I did this:

That's a great photo I love reflection shots and you've done well here.

Your photos are great composition wise. They just appear a bit too flat. Add some contrast and you're good. Unfortunately, photography only starts with taking the photo. Without spending some time editing it, you've only realised half of its potential.

Here is an example of what I mean. Hope you don't mind but I edited your reflection photo. The top left is your original photo and the edit is the other half. All I did was increase brightness a touch and added some contrast.
