Thread: Go Pro Pix

Grumpy John asked about the Go Pro. Here are some shots I have taken (some better than others). All of the originals of these pix were bigger. I have resized them for this forum.
The Go Pro will take quite large (3840x2880 pixels = 3-5MB file size) pictures which can be readily cropped and still end up with usefully sized pix.

Strongly backlit on the left has trouble with glare. Much better on the right with the sun behind me. Also both have classic thumbs in shot due to small size of the camera. Just holding it gives a danger of having fingers too close to the lens. 3840x2880 original sizes

Although they were sold with an "underwater" case, the focus of the domed lens port was upset by water and the pictures were fuzzy. There is a new flat lens case which should cure this but I haven't been able to try it yet. Also in this shot the light was actually brighter than the picture would indicate. Sometimes the Go Pro seems to struggle in lower light. 3840x2880 original size

Holiday Snaps. The farm house was 1600x1200. Wide angle was handy as the path was in a wooded area in an "open air museum" in reasonable sunlight. Second one, across the road from that gallery. The third one was taken from the back of a taxi in burst mode (as were the seagulls at the top). Pick the one with the best composition! The last one was indoor shot through a window with artificial light and turned out not so bad. last three were 3840x2880 original size

Taken during windy weather I spoke about before. The wide angle doesn't do justice to the wave size, but otherwise picture is OK. 2592x1944

Light from behind in the first picture, the focus is good throughout, except for it being a stupid subject it is a good example of what the Go Pro can do. But (2nd photo) shooting into a bright glare, reflecting white wing and clouds, the camera produces a very dark result. Third one opportunity shot, just stick it out the window on burst mode.
