Scorpio and the milky way
Stepped outside my front door and onto the driveway last night to discover a very clear and crisp evening. Usually I'd grab the telescope out but it's heavy to move and I was feeling the week's work catching up, so I thought I'd try my first longer exposure astrophotograph.
It's Scorpio and it's framed by the milky way.
For the technical details, it's a canon 1100d at 18mm, f3.5, iso 800. 10 subs at 15 seconds, 4 darks,4 bias.Last edited by eisbaer; 9th August 2013 at 07:15 PM. Reason: tapatalk didn't work for photo upload... again

Nice image, it's always hard to get good images of the night sky.

Thanks. I need to focus the lens better next time. Hopefully I can have another crack at it this weekend.

The sky has been great at night lately thanks to the high pressure system.
That's a pretty good shot!!
There was a time when I was reasonably familiar with the night sky but sort of got out of practice.

I was gonna try again tonight but it's just a touch too cloudy. I got a nice one of the crescent moon and Venus together earlier though.
