The Super Moon
While the moon was at its closest distance to the Earth for some time, I took the opportunity to take a few photos.
The first one was taken at about 7.30pm on the 22/6/13.
Handheld Nikon D7100, Nikkor 70-300VR @300mm, f8 , 1/1250 sec, ISO 250

This one was taken at about 5am on the 24/6/13
Handheld , with same camera and lens, @300mm, f9 , 1/1250 sec, ISO 200

It was indeed a super moon - clearly visible down here last night on our way back from Ballarat to Melbourne.

I love the effects you can see from craters left by meteors and such which have struck the moon look at the damage done distance from the impact zone. Just imagine the likes of the ones which have hit earth with all its water.

It looked very big just coming over the horizon, I tried to get a photo but I couldnt get much detail in the moon, it was better once it got higher in the sky.
Certainly makes you wonder what size meteors they were to leave such craters and scars.
On a photography forum I am a member of, one guy has an adapter to fit his Nikon onto his telescope. The amount of craters visible in his photo was amazing.
Thanks Scott.Brad.
