    Default Running...

    Hi,

This is probably not in the right spot, but I reckon it's near enough.

Haven't been getting a lot of shed time lately as there have been too many other demands on my time. One of those is the recently acquired sport of running... Initially started out of me playing a corporate soccer match and discovering that Gym fitness does not translate to sporting fitness. So I thought I'd do something to improve my aerobic ability.

Anyway, I had a crack at the Woy Woy to Gosford fun run - 12km pretty much flat. I'd done enough training and had run a 12km course around Berowra (a very hilly spot in northern Sydney) to have reasonable hopes of cracking the 1 hour mark over 12km. I managed to finish the course in 56:42 (56:04 from when I crossed the start line). Bloody chuffed! Though of course next year I want to beat it! I came in 273rd out of 1950 starters and 88 out of 261 men aged 30-39, which I am pretty happy with...

The worst bit about the course is that the finish line comes into sight about 1km out, so you speed up a bit preparing for your final run. Then about 300m out the course veers away and goes around the block - bloody murder! I managed to stagger across the line and the attached pic pretty much sums up how I felt!

So, the big question is - were there any other forumites in the race? I'd love to hear how you went!

    Cheers,
    Dave

Dave forgot about that yes that would put a damper on SWWS spending. The running will keep you fit for the kids sake.

Nice time for the 12km... congrats. So when does the half marathon become a target or do you skip that all together and go straight for 42km
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

    42

Think I'll be happy with 10-15km for a bit. From friends who run similar distances, pushing it out to 20km hurts. a lot. Not keen on that for a bit!
