Here's one for the Aussie baby boomers
Before Countdown, before MTV, there was a 10 minute show on the ABC that played some of the best Australian music ever heard. The clips were usually filmed live at the Ripponlea studios in Melbourne. It's a shame that ABC recorded over the tapes as quite a few of the artists featured are no longer with us.
One of my all time favourite songs
Not from GTK, but my other all time favourite song, it's a pity none of our radio stations see fit to play these two classic Aussie songs.
To grow old is inevitable.... To grow up is optional
Confidence, the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
What could possibly go wrong.

HAY!!! I never had the long hair (the old man reckoned he would cut it himself if I let it grow) but I still have the beard. OK it may have changed colour (From brown to....grey) That reminds me, my brother had shoulder length hair, and the old man never touched his I vaguely recall the program, but I may be mixing it up with Countdown as it ran for 30 minutes at 6 o'clock. Boy where has all that time gone????
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

Thanks.
I'm a bit fascinated by The Dingoes' song. Wikipedia says Nov 1973.
I only knew the James Reyne/James Blundell version which is 1992.
The topic sounds so very 1980s/90s "drilling for oil" that it's interesting to find out the real origin.
Cheers,
Paul
PS - pretty stuck on the band-member-getting-shot part too.
And people think crime is worse these days!

The ABC Rage program on Sat night from Xmas to the end of Jan each year shows all this early stuff.
I record them for myself over the last few years. Lots of GTK's and countdowns, tim and debbie, neil from young ones etc as hosts.
How about Ronnie Burns singing Smilie, even Izzy Dye before he went on to late night selling junk.
I've got Slade clips, Madder lake, Daddy Cool. Ted Mulry gang all those old old ones. Don't think I keep much from 82 onwards. Wasn't into Boney M Disco start at all.....
What about an AC/DC clips from before Bon Scott was the lead singer, Lots of satin in that one.
Got Hours and Hours of it.
Anyone wants a list send me a PM.
With regards to the long hair thing. I remember seeing the samurai in mid 60's and thought that guy has long hair, I want long hair.
Had it long since I was 7 years old.

Daddy Cool's - Eagle Rock was on top 40 rotation in L.A. when I was a kid. We thought they were a local band singing about the suburb Eagle Rock in L.A. I didn't know they were Aussie till I came here in the 80's.
Cheers, Bill
